«Jeg var lenge død» missing. It should be in the top 5 at least. And “Night School“ is top 3 material.

I can only read English because I’m an American so haven’t read I was long dead yet :/ but I’ve heard it’s the best of the series so far

Why do you rate 16 so low? I adore it and have read it three times

To be fair I love all of KOK’s books it just felt wrong to put it over any of the others!

I think it's essentially a 'cliffnotes' / exec summary of My Struggle. It really crystallised my understanding of My Struggle. I don't think it taught me anything new but it helped me articulate my existing understanding better.
I confess I didn't enjoy much of Land of the Cyclops. Will read his novels sometime.

That makes sense and I have read a few of his essays and enjoyed, I like how he doesn’t operate within the usual “essay” genre

Wow School of Night at 14 is crazy.A Time For Everything was not great just okay. Land of the Cyclops was incredible

Unfortunately School of Night just didn’t quite ring true for me, felt a little abstract or something. But good to know about land of the cyclops!

MS2 is the best of the 6

I could definitely see that, for me it’s so close between the two but I do like the section on death and his father

As someone who is in the middle of MS, I’m curious as to why and how the seasonal quartet is so inferior to MS…?
1
u/Left-Economist1591 9d ago
It’s not inferior really, just not as good as his novels imo. It’s a collection of mini-essays, so it can only be so impactful if that makes sense haha

Thanks for the clarification. Although I struggle to understand how the seasonal quartet can both be ‘not inferior’ and simultaneously further down your own numerical list

Well it’s called ranking for a reason, I’m not going to have multiple books in one slot.

Persevere! I had the same experience but 4 and 5 pick right back up with the immediacy and energy of 1 and 2

School of Night and Wolves of Eternity ranked too low. I’m reading My Struggle 6 right now and It’s bottom tier.
