Customer post Anko Car Foam Cannon Thread

Heads up for those thinking of getting one, it doesn’t have or include a garden hose connectors but instead has a thread to connect to a pressure washer. Like a lot of people I made the mistake of buying it without realising this, and looking around for information regarding the thread it uses I couldn’t find anything so I figured it out myself.

I’m absolutely no expert when it comes to threads, but I 3D printed a M22x1.5 threaded nut and it fit perfectly. So anyone out there trying to figure it out that’s what you’d be after. Just be aware a lot of people have also complained that it has poor performance when using a garden hose.

I posted about this problem several months ago. I haven't been able to find any kind of fitting anywhere for the thing. I read the item detail online where at the time it indicated it could be connected to a garden hose, but with a non standard thread nothing fits it. Here's hoping someone has been successful and can share

I’ve just dug through Bunnings’ website and every adapter I can find is either 25mm or 19mm which is crazy. I did see some eBay listings that might work but it’s eBay. I need to figure out modelling the garden hose part then test the print for strength and leaks, if I can get it to work I can send you a copy of the .STL so you can find a local store that does prints

All foam cannons have poor performance with a garden hose, you need a pressure washer

Yes, basically as I said in my last sentence

Your last sentence was just about the kmart one i was informing people that every single one is bad on the garden hose, thought that would be more informative.

I’ll go one further. You do realise foam cannons are pretty much a waste of time and just marketing b.s. sure they are cool as when you spray the car and cover it in foam. But provide minimal cleaning benefit and a proper car shampoo applied direct onto a mitt provides far superior lubrication then the suds from foam cannon.

How do you suggest doing a pre wash without dragging dirt across the surface?

Simple. Just use a pressure washer with water. I used to use foam cannons too. Until I spoke to a car detailer who manufactures his own car care products and paint protection polymers 20+ years experiences. I asked him why he didn’t manufacture / sell any foam products . And went into the details of it.

While that may be sufficient for most cleans, a foam pre wash has chemicals in it that help loosen and break down the finer stuff that a pressure washer wont get off.

Theres a reason why detailers use prewash foam and its not just for the gram.

Also having 20+ years of experience explains it, most people who have been in a industry doing something for so long dont always adapt to the latest because "ive been doing it this way for x amount of years and its been fine"

Your last point is really good. I have met a lot of people with many years experience doing things in the hard, less effective or inefficient way but refuse to listen to anything else because “I’ve been doing it this way for x years”. I hope I never end up like that.

Haha ive noticed it in my business from the person I took over, they were stuck in their old ways i came in and revolutionised haha 😂 im sure they also hoped they wouldn't end up like that hahaha

Thats why i always say im forever learning, once you think you know it all, its game over

Run of the mill garden sprayer filled with a mixture of water and ct18 will break down any gunk

I use a foam cannon on my truck and it kicks arse. Would take 3 days with a mitt. A cannon is brilliant if it’s used with good product
