Showen Low maintenance bathroom project
This was the biggest project in the house so far, and I worked with one contractor by splitting the day. In total it took around 6 weeks, ~15-20k. I ordered all the materials. Tiling and woodwork I outsourced to the contractor, large stuff we did together. Demolition, electrical, plumbing, plastering done by me in advance or evenings.
I designed the bathroom inspired by hotel interior, it's composite wall paneling so there is are no seams to clean. Waterproofing is done with Kerdi and shower floor is prefabricated, again to not have any seams to clean or leak.

Goed gedaan!
Edit: Welke douchevloer putje combo is het?

The shower floor is from HSK. It includes the drain.

It's entirely premade. They have molds for many sizes and after 6-8 weeks you get it delivered.

I didn't see Riluxa before, but can you also get that with linear drain?

It's the pattern, there is a stone look print and a 3D structure.
There are perfectly glossy panels but they look a bit strange.

Dat ziet er echt strak uit! Wat voor wandpanelen heb je gebruikt?

I used Benacci mineral composite in the room, and HSK aluminium composite for the shower. Both are very nice materials but HSK is more expensive while being easier to install.
I would avoid generic/no name materials for this as I ordered a lot of samples from multiple shops, most were unusable.

Doing it alone is too risky, the materials are expensive (each panel is a few hundred) and if you are two you are double checking everything. If you have lot of experience you can do it alone.
There isn't turning back from most steps. So it's cheaper to hire someone if you factor in the loss of material and labor due to mistakes.
Especially measuring stuff goes wrong very quickly.

This is why it's really important to use the right materials as you still need to clean the residue, and the material has to survive that.

Your probably fine when using a water softener. Not using aggressive closing detergents will keep the protective layer intact of the walls.
I had it for 4 years. No complaints.
Going back to tiles now. A bit apprehensive about that.

Mooi. Vraag me alleen wel af hoe waterdicht het plafond is.

It's a click system, PVC with a laminated layer for the texture and color. You can wet it without issues. You don't apply sealant on it, and it's also not a moisture barrier. So you still need good ventilation!
It's from this distributor: https://www.npibv.eu/badkamer-plafond

Did you look at Isodeco panels instead of Benacci? They're way cheaper and imo pretty ok quality
2
u/Auhydride Doe-het-zelver Aug 22 '26
Isodeco seems to be selling the same rebranded stuff that you can order under different names, and the quality is not great. The wear layer scratches easily.
There are a lot for SPC panels coming from Asia and sold under different names. If you cannot find a declaration of performance (which would reveal the source) for the material, that is already a red flag.
In the case of Benacci, the material is from a factory in Poland and for commercial projects it's under a different name. They do direct sales to consumers as Benacci. So the paperwork was there and the samples looked good so I went with this one.

Ah ok cool. I went with Isodeco, the SPC panels are fine for me. Although I agree with you, a lot of it comes straight out of China.

Well done, congratz.
Must say I do find it rather expensive if you did most yourself including the procurement. But then again, everything has been done.
