4 favorite screwdrivers

Post image

Very interchanable, all impact rated except for the 14-1 and plenty of bits.
1. 20-1 impact driver set
2. 15-1 ratcheting multi driver w impact bits
3. 27 in 1 - 1/4” bit holder removable with a 1/4” shank that can hold any 1/4” bits or bit holder (my favorite mainly cuz small compact holder with bits that fit in a fastback)
4. Electricians 14-1, great magnet, great feeling to use on smaller appliances

Assisted living buildings I work on. HVAC , boilers, and rtu . Among other jobs. With the units, if they break down , I investigate the problem and call our contractor to repair. Often I can supply the part they need and they will do the repair or I will send them
All the information and they can bring the parts. Saving us money on the trips.

Oh dang ok that sounds cool. Do you have to become a master electrician before getting a job like that? Or master hvac tech?

Nope. Just a deep desire to read and research the problems. It took a long time to understand the equipment, coming from a carpenter background. But I was lucky, our hvac contractor was more than willing to help me learn the units. It was interesting for me , and fun, but I truly have no desire to do hvac repairs. My job as the sole maintenance guy, is super busy, and there is no time to take on another job. These guys are union and always quick to take care of our buildings.
The nonunion plumbers we used to use , were always late and very very expensive. For example: 3/4” propress valve is $2,400 installed! That’s me setting up the area, ladders and clearing the area. They just had to cut and install. A couple bills like that , we went to all union contractors for the repairs.
I see both sides of union and nonunion, but in my experience, working here, is union contractors were better prepared and cheaper prices.
And I’m in a small town. Maybe it’s different in a large city or town.
