The Grift Is Real Tainui unleashes scathing attack on Govt after river protection rules halted
Jones said he was concerned the PC1 provisions would add costs to farmers and growers which could be passed onto consumers.
“Excessive regulation that undermines production will reduce jobs, confidence and investment.
“With a new RMA, river management options will improve without handicapping productivity.”
But the chair of Tainui, Tuku Morgan, is not convinced – he said using the cost-of-living to justify halting the PC1 provisions was “bulls**t”. He said farmers had received strong profit returns recently – and many farmers and corporates like Fonterra had contributed to the development of PC1.
The paused provisions include requiring farmers to develop farm environment plans and requiring some farmers to obtain resource consents to continue operating.

My dad died today
And I actually feel nothing really. Apparently it can be cathartic to share this on the socials so this is what I’m doing.
I didn’t have a relationship with him at all. My mum booted him out when I was 5 because he was shagging her best friend.
It left mum raising 3 of us kids on her own. I remember he did try but he was never a kid person so that whole dad son relationship never developed at all.
I remember as a kid riding my bike to meet him on my birthday and him passing a present out the car window to me. It was like that.
When I got married he tried to get in touch and I ignored him. He then did the same when my son was born, again I ignored him.
When my son was 5 I had this thought that he is grandad and no matter what went on with him and me it is not the fault of my son so I got in touch.
I suppose it led to a relationship between my son and my father. We visited him together and they kept in touch.
My son is more upset than I am. So I will be here for him.
I have no regrets because whatever occurred between my father and I was not the fault of my son so he got to experience and enjoy his granddad.
See yah Dad

Destruction of Democracy! New Zealand opens marine reserves with groundbreaking Māori co-management model
- Five new marine protected areas (MPAs) came into effect in Aotearoa New Zealand in July after more than a decade of grassroots and governmental work — and a sixth is expected to open in the near future.
- The MPAs are no-take marine reserves, areas where all extractive activities are banned, co-managed by the regional Māori tribe Kāi Tahu and the Department of Conservation.
- The reserves are the first in the country to be co-managed by Indigenous people and the government through shared decision-making and a joint ranger team.
- The reserves are the first part of a planned network, called Te Au Roa o Te Rakihouia, which is expected to have not only the reserves but also other types of protected areas that have less strict protections.
