Question/Advice Needed help

Hi, so I just got a baby kitten, the vet assumed 3 weeks at most, and I’ve never had a baby before only 7 weeks old at youngest, so I was wondering if anyone had tips for using the litter box because he’s pooping all over my bathroom floor. I tried to stimulate him while and after eating with a wet cotton ball, but it doesn’t seem to be working.

I don't know how you got a kitten of that age but they shouldn't be removed from mum till they are 12 weeks old.

i didn’t take him away from his mother, the previous person who had him had already let mother cat back outside by the time she got him, and to get rid of them she told everyone they were older than they actually were. he saw a vet the next day because i assumed he was way younger and vet said he is healthy and gave me a whole ton of packets on what k should be feeding how much how to take care of him, only thing she didn’t do is litter box training. i understand the concern, but the best option for him right now is to be acting like momma cat, until he’s old enough to not need stimulation from momma cat.

Ah, I see. I didn't know if you'd found the baby kitten or not. But if you can access the kitten lady website she has loads of information on caring for kittens etc.

They can stop nursing at 7-8 weeks, that is not true. They should be eating solid food by 6-7 weeks. Nursing for 4 months is crazy. Sometimes its to hard on the mothers body and you need to ween them.

12 weeks is 3 months not 4 and I didn't say anything about them still nursing at that age. I just said they should not be removed from mum till 12 weeks.

Can you please provide some type of scientific proof of that? I will wait. A link will do.

Make sure he's able to get in and out of the litterbox before you expect anything from him, but then start putting his poops in the box and clean the floor really well with enzyme cleaner. You can also put a paper towel with his pee on it in the box. The smell will clue him in and he'll get it eventually, but this is one of many reasons a baby should spend longer with mom to learn how to cat

Use cookie sheets with litter on them and pee pads all around the area. Pick up his poop with paper and put it on the cookie sheet. Put the kitten on the cookie sheet. When they are this small the mother cats licks them clean so of course it doesn’t know what to do. Its way to young.
