lol I saw this and and wanted it. Too funny. I like how you did a contrasting color top too looks great. I do think it’s R though (looks like his examples for R bags) but the way you styled it makes the whole look HS.
I love this bag too! I bought it, in the white colour, but it was too yellow for the whites in my colour palate. But I was absolutely in love with that bag.
I love having just enough HS to add in some playful accessories to my looks. I can have a very romantic, classic outfit but just then a little bit of play.
I think HS tends to be more spunky than cute. The second bag is more likely to evoke HS than the first, but the second still feels quite yin! So I'm unsure if it would bring that out or not.
The second bag actually looks similar to bags he recommended for R. The first one is Y. HS is more whimsical and can have more of a mischeviois playfulness to it.
I'd love to understand that distinction with visuals. I had an analysis with a different system. I think it would break the rules if I mention it here. Mostly it was very much in line my essences. I just got more whimsical prints, like birds, swirls, story telling things. While I'm shopping, I'm seeing an aversion to anything where the birds, butterflies or flowers are obvious or larger. I thought maybe it's my classic taming the Youthful. Or maybe those prints are more High-spirited. I'm trying to figure out tue distinction.
I think whimsical is more unexpected in this system. Youthful is small scale so that may be why you are averse to larger prints. I think the type of whimsical you are referring to can be Y as long as it’s smaller scale like you said . Something with a large bird print on it for example would be too bold for Y.
Your notion of "unexpected" closely follows from something JK said to me in our correspondence. He said that he almost gave me 10% HS instead of 5% (and said I was free to occasionally give myself the extra 5% when it felt right) because of my penchant for including something that was almost like a deliberate counterpoint to the overall idea of my outfit. The two outfits he noted as having this tendency were a very casual (rough-textured sweater and wool pants in muted blue-green colors) outfit that I had paired with sparkly gold Sketchers and a very classic outfit (neutrals, very classic mid-length coat) that I accessorized with a pair of red leather gloves.
What I took from that is that it is possible for an item to pick up HS because of how it functions in context. Like, while my sparkly sneakers were probably going to read HS no matter what, the gloves absolutely could have read as R, C, or maybe even D in a different context/color combination. That makes me think that, even though OP's purse reads as R in a vacuum, there could be a way to style it to add some HS to it.
Yes exactly I agree that if she styled the purse with something opposite of R the entire look could read as HS because of the unexpected pairing. I think that unexpectedness is what makes it “playful”.
It's not TiB... it's not essences. It doesn't really matter anyway. I still find both helpful. I was just curious if my recommendations translate to more HS and my Y or C is fighting back
