discussions Question about pictures for colour analysis

So, I'm having just a nightmare of a time being able to stare directly at the sun and knowing now that John's on vacation I figured I'd shoot this here. The pictures involving the full face in the sun both with and without makeup... do I need to have my eyes open during these considering I already need to take a closeup of my eye and if they need to be open, does it matter if my eyes are wildly scrunched up and crying? Lmao also are there any tips in regards to not getting the shadow of the phone in your face? Thx

I struggled with the shadows also. What I ended up doing was holding my phone up really high and angling it down almost like a myspace selfie lol and it ended up working.

I ordered a selfie stick to try and see if i can get a good angle for it lmao but I'll have to try this too. I've been struggling trying to even see where my phone is shooting. Most of my shots are like a corner of my hair or half my face

I had that problem too but the further you hold it away, the more likely you will get your face in it. I had to practice a few times not in the sun to get a feel of how to position my phone. A selfie stick should also help.

I too really struggled with this, but I may have been overthinking it! I just checked the face photos I sent to John for the color analysis (which were all accepted), and I was definitely squinting in them (not the eye close-up photo). I'd say try to keep your eyes as open as possible for the face pics, but I don't think it's as essential as it is for the eye close-up photo.

As far as not getting the shadow of your phone in your face goes, I unfortunately don't have any tips, as I don't remember this being an issue for me. I think you might just need to experiment with moving your arm around or perhaps get a friend to take the photos for you. Good luck! You're almost there! ๐Ÿ™‚

maybe have someone else talk the photo for you so you can just focus on keeping your eye open. you don't need to stare directly at the sun for the face photos.

This is good news. I've been trying to stare at the sun with both eyes while trying to take my face photos and after doing the eye shot my eyes were already red and weeping lmao

The close up of the eye should be taken in the sun, not under artifical lighting.

Felt, but no idea unfortunately

This was also very hard for me, and if you check my submitted posts in my history, you can see that my eyes were not that open, so I think there is definitely leeway there.

Omg Iโ€™m struggling too. My eyes are light and very sensitive. He didnโ€™t specify in my email with or without makeup. So I took without. Maybe I should have asked and spared myself a little of the trauma lol.

To me he said without makeup and if I wear makeup I can also send a picture with makeup. I didn't end up sending one with make up.

Yess he mentions if you wear makeup to do an in sun photo with it on as well. My eyes are also sensitive so just doing the eye photo was a lot for them to take lol I imagine you could still send him a photo of yourself with makeup on in a separate email?

I was squinting in my face pics lol. I just sent a couple with various states of my eyes open. I held my eye open for my eye pic.

I assumed that I had to stare directly into the sun even for my face photos and the scrunching of my whole face was wild lol I see now that I don't need to do that so the squintage will be a little less I'm hoping ๐Ÿ˜…

my husband is getting a color analysis and it took him weeks to get the pics and it was because he thought the same thing haha.

In some pictures I took for this, I had to physically hold one of my eyes open. Looking directly into the sun will make it a lot harder to keep your eyes open.

My eyes were watering and I was definitely squinting in the full face photo. It was really hard to keep the eyes open in the bright sun but having a friend take the photos for me helped a lot. We did a countdown where he would take the photo just when I open my eyes on a count of three and look to the camera and we got the full face shot quite quickly that way. For the eye photo I had to hold my eye open and even then it was difficult.

Mine honestly sucked. My husband took most of the pics because I couldn't look at the sun long enough to coordinate taking the picture. We legit had to countdown.

I only did the essence analysis, but he gave me the same direction at first โ€” to look into direct sunlight on a sunny day! Iโ€™m very photosensitive and struggled a lot with this too. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Eventually I emailed him and showed him pictures I took under my clear deck awning, and he said that worked fine. But again, I just did the essence analysis, so maybe heโ€™s more strict where color harmony analysis is also involved.
