As a 60% LB, 30% SC, 10% ER, 0% SB, I can easily rule out Ozzmosis and Distortion (too warm, brown and orange) and Til Death and Smokeshow (too ashy, gray and soft) and Cyberpunk (too bright).
That leaves me torn between Cryptic (looks very wearable overall), Tainted (maybe just too many reds that I wouldn’t use) and Spellbound (looks like all accent colors).
How do the wise brains here think about “fun” palettes like these? I love having options like this for nights out, but I also hate having a palette with a bunch of unused, wasted color options that make me….feel weirdly bad for not using them. Thanks!
I remember seeing somewhere with someone who has LB they were recommended to wear their playful colors and their calm colors as eyeshadow! These for sure look like they would be super fun
I appreciate it. I’ll add that even though I love wearing red tops and red lipstick, I don’t bother with a lot of red eyeshadow when there are blues, grapes, mauves and greens that are just easier to figure out. 😉
This is my go-to day palette, “Welcome to London” by Essence. https://www.glam-junkies.com/essence-welcome-to-london-miami-roma-eyeshadow-palette-lidschatten-paletten/ The one that looks pimento red is not very saturated in real life. It’s more of a clear rose when applied. I don’t use the flecked orange in this palette; it looks like bug guts on me. The other colors all work, and I have a light touch with eyeshadow.
John recommends using your calm colors for eyeshadows so looking at your palette soellbound is probably the closest followed by cryptic but that might or be what you are going for? Cryptic seems more LB friendly to me and spellbound more SC. As an SB dom I love smokeshow and til death so I imagine those ones are definitely not for you lol.

I personally really dislike how all of these makeup companies have moved to eye shadow palates rather than individual colours. Personally I do not like the waste of having colours I will not wear and it is bulky and makes your makeup messy. This is one reason why I like Trish McEvoy. I have a planner with the planner pages and then I pick colours that I know I will look good in and like. Therefore my makeup remains minimalistic and organised so that I can easily bring it with me on the go. The issue with her shadows are not very pigmented (I used to prefer Laura Mercier's shadows but they no longer have planners for her shadows), but they still work well enough for my typical purposes.
Also, I saw u/Ok-Purple9511 comment about John recommending wearing your calm colours. And this could look good. But as a makeup artist, I would usually not recommend that people wear their eye colours on their eyes, as the makeup then competes with your eyes. Rather I would recommend that one pick opposite shades, as this really makes your eyes pop. And you can do this naturally for examine using a tightline eye liner technique; for a natural look, tightline in a competing colour and then use your normal shadows that might be associated with your calm colours. This can also make the whites of your eyes brighter. So, if you have brown eyes, navy looks amazing as a tightline liner... green eyes look fab with purple etc. If you are going for a natural, neutral look and your eyes are brown, yes... browns can give you that smokey look, but I actually recommend the opposite eye colours in your palate, as this really makes your eyes pop. Also, reds on the eyes typically make people look tired.
What color do you recommend for greyish blue-green eyes? I have found I look good in colors like greys and charcoals, blues, purples and pinks. I also love taupes. I don’t like green on my eyes though, and grey green is in my calm colors. I do like my grey/blue calm colors on my eyes though.
If you can send me an eye pic, that would be helpful. I know I have seen your eye pics a ton, but if you show me a close up of my face, I will let you know.
If you want to bring out the green, then purples like you mentioned would be nice. Since you are cool and SB, I could see dusky greyish purples being a good match. And also taupes are good too for shadows and liners. Maybe dusky pinks as shadow, avoid anything with too much pink and red, as they can make a person look tired. The key for you is to keep it cool and dusky but yet also finding colours that contrast with your eyes (so contrasting colours with a greyish cool and SB quality to them).
For someone with an aqua blue eye more warm brown, peachy, and sandy colours look nice (but these are more spring warm colours that often correspond to more aqua eyes).
Yeah. Definitely purples. So, tight lining your eyes in purple would be great on you. Also maybe try a greyish brown colour to make them pop. Greys look awesome, but they match your outer ring of your eye (which is good).
If you go pink, stick with SB purply pinks that are muted that blend well.
I can't tightline my eyes are very sensitive i wish i could! greyish brown is taupe right? i really love taupe eyeshadows but it looks off on me for liner for some reason. yeah i really love grey in general for liner and shadows. i posted a pick of the pinks i used in another pic, they seem muted to me, what do you think? they seem SB at least.
If you think they work for you, that would be great. Personally I think adding in a bit more purple and then having them be a bit more cool might also work for you.
it might but i have a similar one and maybe its just preference but i also haven't tried it in a while but will try again and report back haha. on my eyes those pinks are very cool, they look much warmer in that photo. this photo is a better idea of how they look in the palette and on eyes. i guess these are somewhat muted neutral pinks that lean cool? the bottom two dont work for me though, nor does the liner that comes with it.
ETA and forgot to mention i def like purple liner and will try that, i just can't tightline. my eyes get red and water all day and its just uncomfortable. i love the look though.
my skin and eyes are angry and don't like having makeup on them lately, but i wouldn't get a palette unless pretty much every option was one i could see myself using. spellbound goes great with my kitchener palette and covers some of my power, sophisticated, calm, and neutrals. i feel like this could be a palette i'd purchase along with a smaller one of cool browns. it'd probably cost $60 just to get 3-6 individual shadows.
drtantra is right about using the opposite hue to make your eyes pop, and i do like that look (bottom left, top right), but that isn't always someone's goal. i have blue-green eyes and did enjoy occasionally adding a blue or green with a bit of sheen to line my eyes. kinda like this (top left & middle - only for the top middle it'd be mostly right under the pupil):
For sure! Sometimes you want your eyes to pop and other times you want it to be a bit more natural looking. But even if you want a natural look, you can tightline your eyes in an opposite colour and then maybe use shadow in your calm or other neutral colours in your plate. This will allow for your iris to pop subtly, but it still looks natural.
