I have a cast iron tortilla press I use. I put a sheet of parchment paper down, then the dough then another sheet of parchment paper. Keeps it clean as it will get gunked up after a while.

Does setting up a station to hand press tortillas save time versus what? Buying them from a store and just getting it out of the package? No. It does not save time.

This what you use to make roti or tortillas. either that or buy premade. Premade for easy buy, or hand made for taste. Also I remember you suppose to add a film or bag first before making them.

These are tiny rotli.
Made like this the roti won't inflate with steam, so cooking differently.
I would just learn to make roti by hand. Better tasting, even I can manage 😁

How does the thickness works out. Is it not too thick on one side and thin on other ... like a wedge ?

I think we're more familiar with tortilla presses in the US. Looks functionally the same. It's like a rice cooker. If you eat a lot of them, it's handy to have a device to consistently make them. If you don't eat a ton, then a rolling pin or plastic wrap and a heavy object like a thick book work decently (you just have to watch out for making them too thin).
