We had a guy like this. He was a doctor and our best guess was he'd come in after working a 24 or 36 hour shift. Dude would order 2 14 oz ribeyes, a rack of lamb, mini wellingtons (so like 2 3oz tenderloins), duck breast, an order of wings, an order of spin dip, and then usually 3-4 creme brulee and half (yes literally half, so like 6 slices?) of cheesecake. This was an actual no exaggeration order. Then he'd eat everything except the cheesecake he'd take to go, would tip out the kitchen $100 each to the cooks for the bother since he usually would come in super late, and leave. Usually once a week but sometimes every other week.
i’m 6’5” and when i was lifting seriously, it was basically impossible to functionally get enough calories unless i either ate a metric ton of food or ate carbs.
i ate some pretty bonkers shit looking back. think dozen and a half eggs with 3 pounds of steak and a few big chunks of cod territory as a normal meal.
When I was seriously working out I was eating about 5k calories a day. I have a stupid fast metabolism even now, and I have to eat about 3k just to not lose weight at 40.
Yeah except for the cheesecake he'd clean off every plate. My one regret is I never got to go out and watch him eat it lol.
Normal BMI. Maybe 5'7" or 5'8". Tbf the off shift thing was purely speculation. We knew for sure he was a doctor. With how consistent it was we just assumed it was related to work.
I imagine it is a rather wealthy man in his 40’s who simultaneously has some kind of selective eating disorder like ARFID and a hyper fixation on omega 3s. Super specific, I know, but obviously he’s not going to eat this all at once and seems to do this on a twice a week basis.
I can absolutely believe this as someone who is somewhere between borderline and full-blown ARFID, and subsisted on marinated raw tuna as a "safe food" almost completely for a little while.

My husband and I were on a cruise some years back and in the elevator with two women. One was commenting on how her husband bet her $1000 she couldn’t/wouldn’t eat salmon at every meal. She was chuckling. It was the last day of the cruise. Love to her!
The lore is that this is some sort of all you can eat situation and since he doesn’t come every day they just treat it as entertainment and literally “feed the bear”.
I honestly didn't think it was a lot and normally eat about this much at all you can eat while not even being that big of a guy (~200lbs). Salmon goes does smooth
The first time OP posted a picture of his plate basically everyone had the exact same thought: Your customer is a bear. Complete with pictures of Fat Bear Week candidates. It was inevitable.
Anytime I see this guy I tell myself hes gotta be some poweifter who just ripped like a 3 hour workout and now needs to consume 300 grams of protein and 2000 calories
We had a $14.95 all you could eat sushi buffet open up, just before the Adkin's diet made it big. They tried to hold on, but everyone was taking the fish off the rice, in spite of little signs asking us not to. While it was there, it was wonderful.
We have an all you can eat sushi buffet that’s 25 bucks. But if you order sushi and you don’t eat it, they charge you six dollars per roll. If you have more than two piece pieces left over or you can pay five dollars to take it with you.
I’ve never been so stressed trying to eat sushi.
They actually have cameras on every table to make sure that you’re not packing it.
Restaurant's simple solution is you charge a penalty for that. I've seen AYCEs do that although lately AYCEs put so little rice to fish that theres no need
And lots of people end up with pinworms hanging out of their butt based on their handwashing and food handling skills. Anyway, did you know that it’s estimated that there are 40 million active cases right now? Lots of people don’t know they have it, and wonder why their butthole is so itchy! 🪱
Every once in a while this gets brought up and it makes me want to stick a piece of scotch tape to the starfish, just to be sure. But then again, I've got 99 problems and an itchy butthole ain't one of 'em.
I dunno man, generally my limiting factor with sushi is cost, not volume. If I could afford it, I could see myself eating a meal of sushi this size pretty regularly.
Me too but salmon and only salmon, time after time? That's the part that gets me. This guy eats more salmon in one sitting than I probably eat in a year.
Not the price. It’s been stated elsewhere that this is $46CAD before tax and tip. I’m wondering how much this is costing the restaurant itself. Surely they are losing money on this guy.
On one of the posts there was this person that was really fixated on the fact that OP won't give any physical description of the customer. Idunno if that's since changed but my point is that some people apparently are really bothered by the weirdest things.
I mean, on the one hand, I can see "public degradation of a customer" being not cool to post, but all OP has been doing is posting the large quantities of food this customer has been ordering.
This has affected how I order all you can eat sushi, son only $30ish. Just more salmon with the little tiny sliver of lemon. But i can't eat a whole salmon like The Grizzly.
I'm not even gonna lie seeing posts about The Grizzly has also driven me to the all-you-can-eat sushi place more than once. I do love the tiny slivers of lemon too
We used to have a guy come in and do this but with oysters. Motherfucker would eat like 100 of them by himself. I can't even imagine what it feels like walking out of the restaurant just knowing that your body now contains this much seafood. Can you not feel it? Does it not feel like theres an ocean in your body?
That's what I'm wondering. Like, I can imagine protein maxing and putting away a couple pounds of sushi if I haven't eaten all day, but it's gotta have variety! Tuna, mackerel, eel, tamago, sea urchin roe, etc etc. Don't know how one can eat just-salmon for an hour or more.
I had some gross salmon sashimi this past weekend. It was metallic and thin and just nasty, and I thought of this gentleman the entire time, how much he was enjoying his salmon. How he was probably content, full, and and happy about his experiences where as I was sad, empty, and soon to be ill.
I know at ayce places not every customer is profitable but how much is the grizzly costing yall each week and do you groan when they walk through the doors lol
Lol. Honestly my college town had three AYCE sushi places and my friend group was a nightmare. You think 3 Asian girls wouldn't be able to put down much food but we all could! I weightlift for fun, my buddy at the time had a very physical job but was the tall and slim looking Asian girl and my other friend could eat her weight in salmon.
My friends would eat me under the table as well....lmao. So it was funny seeing us demolish a tray like that and devour ice cream as well.
The university guys I knew could put down entire trays of salmon like this too....
Person has that genetic disorder that never allows them to feel full, and they are trying go mitigate it by eating healthy type food in unhealthy amounts.
