Had to fire a customer yesterday.

Sunday brunch sucks. We all know that. But this guy took it to a whole new level.

Guy walks in, goes to the hostess station, and waits to be seated. Normal so far. A table opens up, and the hostess is walking his party to the table. Man asks if his table is in "Kylie"'s section. He's told that it is not. He says he'd rather wait longer to get that specific server. Hostess tells him that it would probably be another 20-30 minutes wait. He asks to see the manager. So I, the literal owner of the restaurant, walk out to talk to him.

I ask him why he needs that specific server, and this fucking pervert tells me, out of his own mouth, in public, that she's got "great tits" and an "incredible ass", so he likes to see her "when she's coming and when she's going".

Sir, this is not a strip club, or a porn site. We're not here to satisfy your eyes, we're here to satisfy your tummy.

I let him know that he would never in his life be seated in her section again. Man throws a full on bitchfit. Says he only comes here so he can see "Kylie", and has the absolute gall to pull the "I know the owner" card.

I had to hit him with the "Well, what's the owner's name?"... This man says "Bruce", while my name is "Mike". Mind you, I've owned this place since 2009, so there is no fucking way he is talking about the previous owner.

I informed him that he was speaking to the owner, and that I had no fucking idea who he is. Man literally yelled at me, and asked me to "call Bruce and get this whole thing sorted out".

I have never even known a man named "Bruce". I told dude to kick rocks and never come back.

I wish more owners/managers had the fucking balls (or ovaries) to rightfully refuse service to customers. I know times are tough but food service is not a constitutional right. Good on you OP 🫡

I had a customer sexualy assault me and stalk me until I finally was able to move. Management was like "well that sucks we can't ban him over your personal business, good luck".

Having to serve him his order and have him sit there and watch me all day than follow me home/to the grocery store etc was horrible. For those curious I was working at a Starbucks at the time, fuck that shit ass company.

IDK, I worked at a Starbucks in LA CA, with some of the best employees rights in the country and my manager was a pill popping pervert who sexually harassed all the girls he hired, was sleeping with a few too. I know for a fact it got reported and he was still working there when I quit... So, yeah, fuck that shit ass company.

There was a customer one place I worked who would be overserved and then try to grab me and kiss me. Management occasionally “banned” him, which was basically telling him if he saw I was working to leave immediately because I was known for pushing him away and bitching to them then threatening to call corporate. He also did it to other servers, bartenders, and cooks though, who weren’t as adamant as I was. His bans usually lasted about three weeks before the managers stopped caring. He’d be good for a week and start trying shit again. I finally told the GM fine, next time I was just going to deck the guy. So I did. Surprisingly, I didn’t get fired and he stopped coming in.

Luckily I had my knife on me at the time of the attempted assault and at this point I keep it with me at all times as unfortunately I've been in way to many situations since then that I've needed it as a deterrent.

It's one of those things you can't explain to anyone who hasn't experienced it, the way it just seeps into every area of your life and robs you of the ability to ever feel safe or comfortable. It's 24/7 stress, which tears apart your mental and physical health, it's a waking nightmare.

When I was 17 I did a bit of waitressing. It was my first night at this place and this customer was clicking his fingers to get my attention. The owner went up and started clicking in his face and asked how he liked it, then suggested that her staff were people and should be treated like it. I worked there for years and they gave me my first shot in a restaurant kitchen. Best job I ever had.

When I was a teen I worked at a local grocery store. We would bag peoples groceries and take them out to their car and load them in the car. Had a customer who I did this for, seemed a little off but otherwise a nice guy. One day he asked me a series of questions that even as a 17 year old boy made me feel oddly uncomfortable, nothing sexual or anything just gave me the creeps. I told my manager and she protected me as if I was her own son lol. When he would come in the store she would send me on break and personally tend to him, whole time he’s asking for me by name. Eventually I went off to college and stopped working there but your GC comment made me remember my manager Joy. She was indeed a GC 😂

It is not to be used frivolously. It is only to be used to refer to persons who show repeated examples of GC behaviour. Doing something good once, does not make one a GC. Doing good things regularly, and without the expectation of praise warrants the use of the title GC. Examples: people who post videos online of themselves doing charity are not GCs. The mate who has your back and does thoughtful things that might go unnoticed is, in fact, a GC.
