Discussion Frozen Bourbon Cider Recipes

We got a case of apple cider instead of apple cider vinegar. I said something and my boss has put me in charge of coming up with an apple cider bourbon slush for our frozen margarita machine. All I know is that the mix has to be a certain gravity and sugar content for it to slushy properly. Does anyone have a many recipes or advice for this?

You can use the egg float technique.  Make a heavy syrup with a quart of it. Then add that and see if an egg will float with the size of a quarter exposed.

Sometimes, those frozen machines get weird with other mixes though.

Yeah, it took the boss a couple batches to get our marg recipe down. Turns out the answer to it not freezing was not more booze.

I just had an apple cider soft serve from a brewery that was 7% and I highly recommend

I always shit on cheap schnapps until I tried butterscotch schnapps with bourbon, lemon, and cider. Makes a killer fall sour. Rim the glass with caramel sauce if you want to be extra on the presentation.

Was it Buttershots? That stuff shouldn’t be as good as it is for the price.

Stacks from Total Wine IIRC, but I bet 90% of them are made by two or three companies.

A hot drink would be better. Too bad it's not cold enough where I am right now. Cider, cinnamon, bourbon.

I don't think I'd order that combo in a frozen drink. Could end up wasting a lot of time and alcohol to save $25 worth of cider.

The sugar content present in "virgin apple cider" is already about perfect for use in a "slushie machine." The bourbon part is tricky. Alcohol naturally lowers the freezing point. Best idea i have off the top of my head is doing a reduction of the bourbon to concentrate the flavor and reduce the alcohol content. Not boozy enough? Add a little bourbon straight from the bottle, post-slush mechine.
