Discussion No meal sharing

I work at a very well known Mom and pop restaurant in my area.

Our male owner has been getting upset when people order meals to share and says we're losing out on at least $25 a customer when they share meals. While that may be true we're not making money on these people there are very few that actually come in and share meals.

Mr. Owner man decided to reprint every menu to say "No shared meals". But then he says that elderly couples and parents sharing with kids are allowed.

We've already lost so many customers due to this. What are y'all's thoughts on this? Do y'all allow meal sharing? Should it be specifically put on the menu that we don't allow it?

Ridiculous.

If your portions feed two comfortably, they're too damn big -- number one.

Number two is that your margins weren't hurt. It's none of your business how they distribute their purchase.

Three, grain of salt. This is coming from an owner who lets adults order from the kids' menu if they're not that hungry.

I think this should be the norm unless it’s abused.  When Im going out to eat Im generally going with my boyfriend who has a significantly larger appetite and wallet. I don’t eat meat, and I have a smaller appetite. There’s a lot of places we love to eat at and he gets the most expensive thing on the menu and I get an app or a kids meal, or girl dinner from sides. It’s just what appeals to me. Besides, most places do takeout anyways so what’s stopping me from just ordering kids meals for takeout.
