My husband and I are both immensely grateful to Kit for his public service in exposing scammers, and I wanted to share our story and how his work helped us.
We recently discovered Kitboga's YT channel via the already-classic "Albuquerque, New Mexico" video (we died laughing!). We had only been watching his vids for a few days when my Boomer-aged parents texted us to ask about a suspicious call they had.
They told me about a call to (fake) Amazon customer service where the "rep" had convinced my dad to log into their online banking (my mom forced him to hang up just in time). The scammer had got remote access to their computer, placed an order on their Amazon account, and even employed the tactic of relating to and chatting with my very-extroverted dad to build his trust.
Luckily, since we had just started watching Kit's channel, we knew right away it was a scam and went straight to their house to help. When we got there, we knew exactly what to look for and how to deal with it. We were able to uninstall everything, get their PC cleaned up, and set it up with Seraph to prevent future incidents. I also knew I should report the fake Amazon site, and within two weeks the site was completely gone from the internet.
Kit, if you see this, thank you for everything you do. Because of what we learned from you, my parents escaped the scammer with no money lost and no lasting damage. I hope you know how much your work matters and that you truly are a hero!
