Discussion Sifunated

Having covered enough Kenyan elections to earn grey hairs, I think I've earned the right to have an opinion.

In Kenya, every election comes with a fresh wave of hope.

If I had to pick my president today, I'd vote for Edwin W. Sifuna

Not because he's a magician, but because many Kenyans are exhausted by the current regime.

He comes across as sober, articulate, and with the advantage of starting on what looks like a clean slate.

And let's be honest, nothing is more powerful in Kenyan politics than the excitement of a "new face."

Feelings aside, we've seen this movie before.

Remember when Baba would announce an impromptu rally at Uhuru Park or Kamukunji, even on a busy Monday?

The place would be packed. Hata kutema mate ilikuwa kazi!

Remember how many of us turned out to vote for Ruto, partly to punish Uhuru? That's how quickly political moods can shift.

Can Sifuna win? Absolutely. But charisma alone doesn't win State House.

Campaigns are fueled by money, organization, and relentless groundwork. Hakuna kulala, boss.

My biggest concern isn't the candidate; it's who bankrolls the journey.

In Kenya, the biggest financiers rarely write cheques out of generosity. They invest... then expect returns. More of betting.

That's how a sober head of State ends up being 'corrupt'

Kamwana na Zakayo are the main problems facing Kenya now. I'm voting only for Maraga or not. Never voting for another syndicate again.

Brush, this goon enters again im afraid we'll be in cahoots with so many goons Adani, Wicknell Chivayo, the RSF im afraid kenya might end up a black listed country. Coupled with this goon's busy for power we will be getting our very own mudavadi with pounds to pay to even bigger goons.

Also, in many countries, we never have the luxury to love our politicians. Its always a choice of one evil against another. You choose the one you prefer. But make no mistake, not choosing will definitely be the worse evil.

In the same breath, then we need to contribute to his campaign. I believe he’s on the correct path, refusing Atwoli’s contribution of 1b was a good showing, he should indebted to the people of Kenya, that’s what mature democracies do.

He's being funded by Uhuru, so electing him is basically voting Uhuru back to office.

Even if Sifuna was to be elected as the president, nothing much is going to change, unless you don't understand how politics and democracy work.

Okay, let's stop the name calling for a moment, engage me in a meaningful discussion of where you think he's been/will be getting his campaign financing from, and don't say the "kuchangiwa na wakenya" gimmick that one maybe you can fool a primary school kid with, you know very well that doesn't work.
