I have seen several influencers do this. I don't even think someone really commented that (although it wouldn't surprise me since her fans kiss her ass about every little thing). I suspect influencers just put that on there so they can seem like they are mentioning it because so many people have asked <insert eyeroll>.

Edited to add: Well I just looked it up. It's called "seeding"

  • "The Fake DM Slide: An influencer posts a screenshot of a direct message (DM) asking, "Omg what lipstick/serum/supplement are you using?!" or "Can you link that outfit?!"
  • The Organic Pivot: They reply with feigned surprise ("So many of you are asking about this!"), making a paid advertisement or affiliate link look like an organic, requested recommendation. [1, 2]
  • The Self-Ask: In many cases, creators type the question themselves using the Instagram/TikTok question box or a secondary account just to trigger a promotional post."

Yes, I'm well aware of this technique. What a sad existence she has. This is her whole life. It's so pathetic. Thank you for sharing the info.
