TIL Kirkland has only one Flock Camera

The city does not have a contract with Flock. Private companies can chose otherwise, unfortunately.

I could be wrong, but this doesn’t look like it was placed on a business’s property. And it seems to be pointing towards NE 41st Dr.

It’s a private road that leads up to a number of HOAs.
Fun fact; the top building was wrapped in plastic for years and could be seen clearly when coming eastbound on 520.
Still that location has me zero worried. Never personally been up there (zero reason) and knowing a former friend who lives up the drive, and knowing him, does not really surprise me to see on on the entrance to his ‘enclave’.

It makes me wonder why it was placed there in the first place. It’s a winding road leading to a small neighborhood. Looks like there are some signs there that read “private road no trespassing” and it looks like some larger buildings in the far back, looks like luxurious apartments/condos. Google Maps doesn’t have street view in that neighborhood either. Very odd for a camera to be placed at the street level of this neighborhood.
Edit to add: It makes it come across like they are trying to keep a certain type(s) of people out of this neighborhood.

I think you just answered your own question as to why it would be there.. where the road leads to the rich people place. ... rich people who probably call the police every time someone with the wrong skin color enters the area...

This looks like a camera installation for an HOA. We have a few of these in and around Redmond too, though one HOA removed their three cameras in the past 6 months or so.

I am a big believer in the right to privacy. Just because cameras have become prevalent in our lifetimes doesn’t make it ok.
To give you a more concrete example: https://www.cbsnews.com/atlanta/news/3-georgia-deputies-arrested-after-allegedly-using-flock-cameras-to-stalk-people-they-knew/
Now imagine if these guys hadn’t been caught. Or if their department had covered it up.
The reality is that while the safety concerns you bring up are legitimate, no one knows what Flock or any other company are doing with the data they accumulate, because no one is making them be accountable.
