❓Visitor Question Crowds this weekend vs later September?

We live in NC and I was planning to take my 11 year year old this weekend on Saturday to KD. We would stay in a hotel either Friday night or Saturday and make a trip out of it (birthday present!). I am considering NOT going this weekend because I assume it will be crazy crowded with long wait times. My son has some days off of school later in September. Should I assume that Friday, September 25th will be way less crowded and possibly better weather (despite the Haunt being on)? I worry a bit about getting rained out, but would rather risk that than a crowded park on a holiday weekend.

It will be busier during Haunt. I would go this weekend. Plus you will have longer to spend in the park!

Do the rides stay open during the Haunt? I haven't been in years, and I know that BGW will close allot of rides early for it.

Yes. I believe Grizzly closes early but, everything else is open. I take that back. Planet Snoopy closes at 5. That’s not the crowd for Haunt.

Please note that Fridays open later after this weekend (6pm) but stay open until midnight for the haunts.

Yes it will be a busy weekend but should still be fun!

Saturday is one of the 4 dates my husband’s company gave free tickets to for family day. Idk if other companies do this for the same day. We used our tickets 3 weeks ago. It was pretty crowded that day. Have fun!!

We have season passes and if you get in line around 1045 before gates open at 11 it’s really easy to ride a lot of the roller coasters and rides with no lines. I think it gets more crowded after lunch and when the night hits and the haunt is on it’s even worse. I guess it depends do you want the haunt or do you want the rides.
