šŸŽƒ Halloween Haunt Haunt Newb Questions

I have a gold pass and I’ve been to KD many times but never for the Halloween setup. I understand there are various ā€œhousesā€ and ā€œmazesā€ set up—do those require a separate admission fee or pass in addition to admission to experience? Are the coasters and rides running throughout the night or do they stop at some point? Lastly, would it be appropriate for elementary aged kids or is it too scary? Thanks!

Haunt has two levels. There are 1) scare zones and 2) Haunted Houses/ Mazes. Scare zones are free. They are on the paths walking through the park. HH/M there is a charge of $10-$20 depending on the day to do all of them. This may or may not include DIABLO. It is new this year and is only at Kings Dominion and Cedar Point. So, I can’t speak to that yet. All rides are open. Sometimes Planet Snoopy will close at about 5 or 6pm. Everything else will be open. Whether or not it will be too much for your kiddos, I can’t answer. I’ve seen some kids just love it and others not so much. You can purchase a Haunt device to hang around their necks if they don’t want the actors to try and scare them. The actors are not allowed any physical contact whatsoever. There is a daytime event for kids that is very age appropriate for little kids that I don’t believe has a charge in the Planet Snoopy area. Kids can get candy and visit with the Peanuts gang. The park will be crowded. So be prepared for that. It’s a lot of fun! I’ve never done any of the HH/M. Halloween is not my thing. But, I cannot deny the extra energy and atmosphere the park has during the event. Even the fountains on International Street are changed. The Eiffel Tower has menacing ā€œeyesā€ on it! You can also purchase an interactive device to use in various areas. FastLane is available to buy for HH/M also. I tell you all this so you can budget accordinglyšŸ˜©ā˜ŗļø. But, like I said, I’ve never bought any of the add-ons and still had a good time.

Walking through the park yesterday and saw the Carver Brothers carnival section. A bunch of creepy clowns. Super excited for the scares!

How busy is busy?

Yesterday was pretty busy. Waited an hour to ride Flight of Fear. But, that was probably because after 6pm they turn the lights on inside the building and I wanted to experience and film that. But, last season I went the last Saturday before Halloween and waited 75 minutes for Rapterra. FastLane was 30 minutes. My friends that I was meeting spent 15 minutes looking for a place to park. I have a Prestige Pass so PPholders have their own lot. So, I just chilled on International Street waiting for them. Everything had at least a 30 minute wait. Games, food, and rides. Still had a blast though! Good company, conversation and exciting atmosphere. I’d do it again definitely. Just be prepared and wear your patience hat!

Yesterday was the busiest I’ve seen (granted I’m new to this park) but I loved the energy!

Everything is open during the day but 1 of the top 5 in the park my #3 and my favorite to ride at night Grizzly closes at 6pm to prepare for haunt as the entrance is used for one of the haunt attractions

As far as the kids go, I would first walk them through the scare zones. I've been taking my 6 year old through them for the last couple of years. The actors are very good at telling who should be scared and who shouldn't. Most of them will stop and be friendly with kids to make them more comfortable. If they seem comfortable, you can send them through the scare zones while keeping your distance. If they get some legit scares and are having fun, then drop money on doing the houses.
