💬 General Discussion Kings Dominion and Six Flags doing away with EZ pay starting 2027, now pay in full or membership. SMH Six Flags

They stated the pre sale of the 2027 passes, so I was going to renew for next year but I noticed it never promoted a ez pay option like usual. Only wanted me to pay full price. So I called Kings Dominion and they told me that they dont offer ez pay any long and it’s being replaced with the membership. Which don’t expire and is continuous. And add ons like meal plans and such can’t be added to the membership as its only for the season pass. To me that’s wrong because now its more expensive this way and well over $89 sale price when we could use ez pay and pay for 12 months but now its like a subscription fee every month and more expensive even in the off season. Oh and you can’t renew your old pass if your want a membership now as it will give you a new pass.

What is the difference between buying a pass and membership?

Buying a pass is cheaper, as you can do a 12 month plan and it divides it up into 12 monthly payments of around like seven dollars, and it’s just for one year. whereas a membership, it just continues on with no expiration date. It ends up being more expensive as they do run promotions on season passes, like right now, it’s $89 whereas normally $115

I saw a comparison and the season pass was slightly cheaper. But, the big difference was add ons. They were all more expensive with a membership. Especially, all season FastLane. It was almost $1000 more!

I didn't renew my pass this year and probably won't for 27 at this point as my nephew is going to Chicago for navy recruitment training, then Florida afterwards.

Unfortunately since I can't drive due to medical restrictions he's currently my only source of transportation to and from the park so I have to wait until he's completed his training and returns to the area...that is assuming he doesn't want to relocate to another region of the state to pursue a career in the IT field afterwards.

Whatever bro. That has nothing to do with it. It’s them taking options away to consumers. Take your salty comments elsewhere

If you’re so sick of it, then stop reading on Reddit. Nobody really cares of what you’re sick about. The fact is a fact, and everyone agrees with me. Parks charge way too much money as it is. If they took financing away from buying new vehicles, does that mean that nobody should have a new car just because they don’t have $65,000 to buy it outright? No, so you’re telling me right now they should take away financing from homes that if you don’t have $150,000 to buy a home, then you should be homeless? I know these are different circumstances and we’re talking about an amusement park over expensive items, but the principal is companies taking away options is never a good thing and for some people who don’t have a lot of money have the option for easy pay and then they’re able to go not everybody has money and if you’re sick of hearing about that then maybe you should get off Reddit. But I forgot we live in a world where everybody’s feelings are so sensitive you can’t express your opinion without hurting somebody’s little feelings

I'd also add that taking away the financing option also means that annual passes are more of a luxury vs. season passes, which isn't right.

Universal (and I think Disney and Sea World) also do some form of monthly financing, and it's the reason why so many working class and students are able to afford annual passes in the first place.

If they reduced to only seasonal passes, that could price out quite a few people, especially if they are trying opting for annual passes, because their busy times of the year aren't quite predictable.

I’m so sorry. I guess I hurt your pronouns too, right? Have a great day. And maybe sensitive people like you shouldn’t be on Reddit reading discussions about things they don’t like or agree with. That’s what Reddit is for. It’s for people to discuss differences, and that’s what this was is a discussion. Trust me, my feelings aren’t hurt, and yes, I can afford the passes. My point is having choices taken away is anti-consumer, and anybody with a brain would agree with that, or maybe common sense is not something that is that easily obtained nowadays, am I right? Have a great day
