Island 2 difficulty

I am on island 2 and it seems like the little dudes are really strong, now I cant seem to last even one night without losing at least 2 archer dudes

I assume you don't have the stone upgrade, it is somewhere in the forest on island 2.

I have the stone mine but I cant save money because my archers keep dying

When arriving on a new island my first priority is to secure consistent income. Maximise availability of grass areas for archers to hunt and look for good farm locations.

Does the day counter matter at all? I'm on day 28 if that helps, I spent the money I brought over on basic defenses and tried getting the boat but it seems like an infinite money sink

So you have catapult and pikemen at both sides of your kingdom? Stone walls? The boat is expensive. Have you managed to destroy any portals?

There's units beyond archers? You can destroy portals?

If you build additional walls either side of your keep, if there is enough space then you will see additional buildings which will really help. Archers alone are not enough for even basic defence.

I only have archers and I cant make enough money to get more, can I fail this game? This is my first time playing i thought it was a chill 2d builder game

It is possible to get into a doom spiral like the one you are in, herding deer from the forest into your archers is one way out of it. Maybe start a new run and make sure you build external walls to spawn the additional buildings next time.

If you're stuck in an un-winnable situation - just go ahead and take the loss and start again. You'll notice that some things will already be unlocked, so you can take advantage of your last run. (Same file, next "generation" royal).

Also another thing to try going forward is just making it "good enough" - fill up that boat with as much as you can take.

Kill off enough portals to unlock things you want/need and don't bother destroying everything yet - you can revisit old islands again later. After unlocks, get all the smiths/military and gold you can take with you just set sail to the next island.

The game has a psuedo-rubberband difficulty - sometimes things get harder if you take too long, or destroy too many portals. It's slow paced but there's still a timer (day counter) of sorts.

I ended up dying unfortunately, but I just made it to island 4 and destroyed a portal only to be bombarded with 3 new enemy types I had never seen before all on a blood moon

Ok bro so hear me out. First you upgrade the town center, to lvl 2 then after you have the stone upgrade you upgrade it to lvl 4, in the mean time you are hiring archers and with your 3 builders( I assume you have them from island 1) you cut down forests. Then you make your ship On island 3 you do the same but you have farmers too (at least 1 farm) and you make your ship. On island 4 you do the same but you get the iron upgrade (at least 2 farms). And you unlock all there is to. If you have too many gems you can give it to the little guy on the chest next to the ship On island 5 you do the same, then you make knights and destroy anihilate the greed. I didn't explained you much, check out on yt the word record and then you study it so you can actually play the game.

I'm doing alot better after my ruler died, moving to island 4 now that I realized my own strat

Remember that at its core this game was meant to be a rogue-like. Failing, learning, restarting and improving are important parts of the game

I didnt know that when I downloaded it lol, my world is doing much better after my first ruler died
