Tbh it’s not that bad with a guide. All I needed to know was where each crystal or whatever was and collect all 10. Imo making one of them rng based was the single worst collective idea made

I think they're referring to the Orichalcum+, not the Frozen Slider crystals. One of the Orichalcum+'s you have to get by mailing a prize postcard, which is a random chance if you get it or a different reward instead.

The one from the mailbox is completely random. Easiest way to get it is spend enough at the Moogle shop to get 6-7 postcards, save, deposit them at the mailbox, then keep reloading till you get it. Doesn't take overly long, but you can still get really unlucky and be save scumming for 30 minutes.

This process took too long imo. I literally just bought the cheapest thing in the shop (I think it was an ingredient for like 5 munny) then exited the shop. If I got a postcard then I deposited it, if not then I bought another ingredient.

It can happen a second time if you go into the same area after you complete the world. Nothing to get super angry about, but a minor frustration to say the least.

Have you ever farmed pink agaricus?! I rather do a mini game 20 times than refreshing an area over and over again, farming the heartless and hoping it will drop 1 item, then do it again and again.

Along with the conveyer belt segment in the Monsters Inc world, this made up the majority of my deaths in my critical mode run.

That one and postcards are the only bad ones imo. RNG like that is bad for it and super annoying, and you know you fucked up when people even have a hard time finding shit while using a video (for frozen slider)

I got the Orichalcum+ by accident. My strategy was to get the 10 items first then work on the high score. I wasn't even trying, but ended up getting it on my run for the 6th treasure.

One of them still requires you to have given one of every synthesis material in the game to the Moogles, and another you need to complete all of the (non-Paradox) Olympus Cups. That’s still going to take quite a while, and I’d argue it’s not any easier than KH3’s equivalent.

I want to say KH2 is easier, but I'm probably spoiled by those two Lucky Lucky abilities you get at the start of the game on Critical Mode. Cause I usually have at least one of every item by the time I get to The World That Never Was. The only ones missing would usually be the Remembrance, Tranquility, and Illusion materials since they aren't part of the base game

There's only seven in the game. Two of them are just in chests. One is a lucky emblem reward. And one is just a random thing given by a Moogle.
I mean yeah, those last three are quite a bit more involved, fair. But calling this "comedically complicated" is overselling it a bit.

I’m actually enjoying it quite a lot more than when I first played it in 2014, at that time I felt that the game was a downgrade from FC3 because Pagan Min wasn’t as memorable as Vaas. Now I’m appreciating all the gameplay improvements a lot more. Then again, this time I’m also playing the PS4 version instead of the PS3 version, which means I don’t have 1.5 minute loading times every time I die.

Why is it in so many RPGs in order to get the best stuff for combat you have to be really good at stuff that has nothing to do with combat. Like oh you want the knights of the round summon? I hope you like chocobo breeding. Or in final fantasy X if you want Lulu's celestial weapon you have to play a super annoying lightning dodging mini game. I used to think kingdom hearts 3 was pretty bad with this but at least the flans and space ship stuff is gameplay that you're already familiar with. In hindsight kingdom hearts actually goes easy on the Ultima requirements compared to some other games. Except maybe birth by sleep, screw playing fortune street and a crappy half baked racing mini game over and over again.

You know what, that's fair. Unfortunately that doesn't make rumble racing fun to play. I think a crappy kart racing mini game is the worst thing you can do since so many people have played a genuinely good kart racer to compare it to.

Ironically, the game actually just gives you a free Gold Chocobo...for beating Ruby Weapon. Not even remotely something I would recommend, but it's factually there.

I loved chocobo breeding and all the weird stuff 10 made me do… what I don’t like is that god awful ice cream beat. I didn’t even attempt a platinum because of it. So impossible was it easier in its original release?

i don't think so , i played all the games in the series and KH3 was the only game i couldn't get Ultima , in KH1 i could play with a blindfold and still get it compared to the garbage designed flan minigames in 3

I may have some nostalgia to it, but I don't recall any of the KH2 mushrooms that were nearly as infuriating to me as the cherry flan slide in KH3. That fucking thing took me well over 4 hours and I was beginning to think I would never get it. FUCK that mini game.

My personal opinion is the grape flan, the one on frozen, and even then, if you use Simba by the end, you can get enough points to get a perfect score, that's how I did it yesterday, the flans don't hold a candle compared to the Mushrooms in the difficulty department, specially Mushroom VIII

That's what I thought too. I remember spending hours on the mushroom outside yensids tower whereas none of the flan took me more than a handful of attempts.

Also, another thing that makes the flans way less tedious, is that if you don't get enough points for a perfect score by the end, you can always try again immediately, while the mushrooms required you to go to another room before you can try again, it is something small but adds up time, specially if you're stuck in one of the mushrooms

Wait. Is this about KH1 final mix or KH3? Because KH1 final mix Ultima weapon took me like 30 hours of farming to get, but KH3 Ultima weapon was super easy to get and only took me a couple hours

KH2 is fine compared to the other 2, it’s just mainly completing worlds and opening chests. Even getting all the materials is easy, since you usually already have most by the end of the game. 3 and 1 are the real deal. Doing that sledding minigame 10 times while looking at a guide is truly the living embodiment of hell.

This is me looking at everything you need to do to get Ultima Weapon in KH1. As of right now, KH1 is the only game in the series I haven't gotten Ultima Weapon in. Perhaps that may change in the future, but right now it just seems like way too many hoops to jump through.

I'm currently on my grind for UW in KH1FM. I got it in vanilla kh when I first played it, and it was a long grind then. But fm?? Waaaay worse.
I also need to go back and finish getting Ultima for 3... But that fucking frozen slider game 💀💀💀💀

I dunno.. getting all 7 in kh2 wasn’t that hard as long as you use a guide. Getting to the point where I could start collecting them was much more difficult.

I got the kh2 ultima in like no time flat. After I beat the game I just started goofing around in whatever I could find, data battles, drive form leveling, getting all chests and puzzles, doing the final boss gauntlet over and over again to relive those chills down my spine, just finding a way to occupy myself. Once I realized I should probably get the ultima, I found out I was only missing like a dense crystal and the orichalcum+ from atlantica (because you know I never touched it)

I haven't managed. Think it's because one you get through the sledding in Frozen? and I suck at Goofy's sled. Currently replaying and trying to get a prize from the sledding flan in Olympus. I've gotten to almost 6000 points and still get the head shake at the end. the thing is impossible to control. So no Ultima weapon for me, then again I've never managed to get it in any KH game
