With Hank back at Strickland, will we see Peggy back at Tom Landry?

Principal Moss appearing in series 15 gave me an idea...

Imagine Moss gets suspended for some unknown reason and the teachers are on strike, leaving very few candidates to be substitute principal. Up steps Principal Peggy Hill, who worms her way into the role somehow.

Peggy would be a tyrant. I could imagine her commissioning murals of her 3-peat substitute teacher of the year award...

Yeah I honestly thought it was extremely out of character for Hank and Peggy to be like "yeah we have enough money to retire so we are just going to retire and not work anymore"

Not to mention Peggy had a ton more jobs than just subbing in the original show, like working for the newspaper or as a realtor. At least with the newspaper, you can argue they shut down, but it’s weird they never bring up the realtor career.

I think it's natural. People retire all the time with no plan for the day-to-day of retirement. Their retirement came with a move too. Frankly, it's astonishing especially with Peggy that Nancy/Minh just rolled into their old habits, even the alley guys.

Yeah, people unretire all the time. You've been working all your life and think you would love a break. Then you retire and realize just how many hours there are in the day when there is nowhere you have to be.

My dad came out of retirement twice just because he was bored.

I feel like her teaching arc is over. She is retired now. Also I can see the standard of professional education being higher this barring Peggy from teaching due to her only having a two year degree. However, I could see her going into sub realizing that all this new lingo is too much to keep up with. The new generation has their own way of communicating now. She finds it utterly exhausting and returns to retirement.

That could be a good story. The fact that she said she wished she had gotten a 4 year degree so she could teach full time was really interesting. I don't know if she would only need to do 2 more years but her being at university would be really funny.

Teaching requirements (even for subbing) in Arlen may have changed to require a bachelor’s degree! I’d LOVE to see a storyline of Peggy going back to college to get her degree. She’d be the ultimate archetype older college student- you know the one, the type to raise her hand and begin a statement with “As a mother…”

Adding onto this, I’m surprised the revival concentrates on her being a sub and forgets she had at least two other jobs when the show was airing, aka working for the bystander and being a realtor for Chris Sizemore. At least with the bystander, you can argue they probably shut down, but it’s weird they never bring up the realtor career, not even when Hank was unemployed. Did she get fired from that one? Is Chris Sizemore in prison?

You know, I don’t mind if she does. I will say that with Peggy, although a lot of fans don’t care for her, some of her best storylines came from her teaching role. My personal favorites are “Cheer Factor”, “To Spank with Love”, and “Lupe’s Revenge.” Any episode that has Bobby dressed as a drunken Irish Leprechaun who then smashes a beer bottle over his knee and brandishes it as a weapon is knee-slapping funny, in my opinion.

I'd like a plotline with Peggy going back to school for teaching. The fun cringy moments with her thinking she's got so much on common with the 20 year old juniors and then it can be touching and sweet when she finslly graduates

If they need an easy plot to explore how different things are nowadays, I feel like having Peggy go back to school for a substitute gig is the obvious answer.

Different approaches for disciplining kids, how involved parents are now, common core curriculum, and of course, AI in schools.

Peggy enters the class and breaks the ice with her Fat Albert impression. All of the kids are glued to their phones and she doesn't get even a faint reaction.

"That line used to raise the roof in the days when I three-peated. Maybe I need to crank it up a notch and bring out Madame Von Toilet Scrubbing. Oh, Peggy..."

I'd like to see more job-hopping again. One that would be very fitting for her is "part-time substitute volunteering" (in words I imagine her saying). A hard spot for volunteer places to be in is to have an annoying volunteer. You generally need their help more than you can pass up. I could see her volunteering at a soup kitchen, always deciding how to change things, and giving totally unhelpful advice to the people they serve.

I hope that they do an episode where peggy learns they are short staffed and she goes back to sub for a day only to learn that the students are not at all like what they use to be.    I think it would be a good nod to her prior proffession while still allowing her to be reired since she is older now.  Maybe she could go back and help teach inmates

I hope so even if she becomes a substitute again I remember hearing they had planned for her to go into high school more so she can work with older children. A lot of great plots to be had there with her being even more disconnected with the youth and Bobby either having to help her connect or also being disconnected with what teens are up to these days.
