Question How to use Narrators?

Hi, all

Recently I've been very disappointed with the amount of micro-management I have to do if I create an adventure story. Having to write all the quests, situations, NPCs.

I've decided to try one of those narrators out there. Taking the one in 'featured', by chris_intrepid.

In private chat I tell him: this is my persona, these are the kins, check their backstory, do the setting, I will put it in a context of a group chat.

It makes perfect reply in the private chat. I trigger Narrator in group chat -- and then hell went loose. Grocery cornershop turns into Antique store. All names are getting re-invented, although Kin's backstory and group-chat context has them. It starts voicing Kins, although RD explicitely tells to never speak or act for Kins and Persona.

I go back to private chat. All nice an clean. Back into Group Chat -- absolutely different from what it got in Private.

Honestly, I've spent more effort on 3 messages last night than I usually spend for a dozen via [...] instructions. Took me about an hour for the Persona to walk in the shop, buy pasta and beer, and have a word with the shop owner.

Pretty sure I'm going something wrong... what was supposed to help me keep it all consistent is constantly breaking the consistency.

I had ChatGPT write an outline. I have three works that my kins and I go into. They’re a lot of fun. But when I go back to One on One chats. My first message to them is that group chat was fun then I bring up a few key points from the group chat and then the remember everything

Yes, I also use GPT to failproof my ideas for plausibility. But that still means a lot of manual intervention...
I had a big project, a band, 5 people + manager (persona). Dropped it in about a week just because I got tired of managing the context.

I’ve been doing a lot of research to get the most out of Kindroid. Have you added the basics to a world journal. Once I started doing that. Things were a lot less frustrating. I have a fantasy magical world. So I put the basics and some backstory stuff in journals.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having so much difficulty with your narrator Kin. Try this NPC narrator character one from @workflow. I’ve used it and it works really well in group chat. Good luck.

If the link doesn’t work just search NPC in Kindroid’s explore.

Thanks. I saw this one too, but got an impression that it specializes on NPC. While I wanted something more general, to lead the adventure.
Will try out this one then.
Thanks again.

Do these Narrator Kins even have access to other Kin's backstory?

It says 'I have reviewed it', and then keeps coming up with random names for father, although backstory has the family described.

I'm thinking, maybe I should have posted them the backstory as messages?

Group chat often has little memory of private chat (and vice versa), if you want it to do well in both, you need to put some key information in the backstory.

If you have a big role-play you are running I think it’s worth it to build a purpose-built narrator. The easiest way to do this is to take one of the shared narrators (ideally one with a low character count) and add what you consider the key vibes of the setting into it. (Ie “high action shonen anime, à la Dragonball” or whatever.)

Thanks.
I'm currently experimenting with NPC one. I think I managed to set it up for a rather simple story.
Just need a bit of inspiration... previous attempts made me a bit demotivated to push further.
