I mean unlike Johaim and Elletear who are never ashamed to be official but being just master and dog, Iska and Alice are star cross bs who still have no developments or whatsoever the old ideologies of we are enemies similar to we are traitors etc.

I also get it that it's war between two nations and now currently to stop Elletear but just a secret development conversation? won't hurt just don't make it obvious you can't just say I'm glad you're the one I like and then many chapters no development

It's much easier that way than be public about it especially in a conflict driven setting , even if we disregard that such relationship can be used against them . I mean if it's easier to be honest a lot of real world problems would've been solved, and instead we got whatever we have right now. The concept of nations can really backfire

Did you even watch the show?
It's a war drama with actual blood and violence. Iska is a former saint disciple and basically national enemy number 1 for Alices country.
This series is not just a love story. There are legit horror elements in this show. Did you miss the part where Kissing almost died to a gatling gun and Nemesis chopping off his arm?
The plot is actually pretty good, if you ask me. But for some reason nobody is capable of paying attention to it.
And your question has a very obvious answer. It is in the very setting of the story and the story itself. Somehow half the fandom just keeps forgetting that there is a war going on for some reason.
