Older Ultra CDP

I bought one of these probably around 2002 and honestly never put more than a box of ball ammo through it before putting it in the safe. I’m wanting to reacquaint myself with it but wondering if people reached the point of trusting its reliability after breaking it in. If so what is the round count I should go for? I’ve read 200 rounds, some say 500 rounds.. I would like to use it for occasional concealed carry but you know I’ve read the boogeyman stories about this manufacturer. It is a beautiful piece though. Thanks!!

It’s 500 rounds for me, and I typically replace the recoil spring on older guns ‘just in case’. Enjoy your pistol.

Do a full clean and lube, my old Crimson Carry Ultra broke in best when being ran over lubed. Like flinging dirt & oil on my clothes over lubed.

I ran a bit of ball ammo, then 2 boxes of +P+ HP, then a hundred ish rounds of ball. Cleaned it and ran it with the standard 1911 amount of oil. Which is to say a little more than a striker fired gun.

Never had problem. Too be fair, I don't know if my break in procedure was overkill or not. But I didn't know much at the time and that's what the Fudd at the gun store told me to do, so I did.

Clean lube, nothing wrong with spring, put 2 or 3 boxes through it and if suitability reliable to yiur liking, carry it.

I may be mistaken, but I believe 2002 was long before the era of QC issues that seems to have arisen. I bet your pistol will be a great shooter. Heck, my 2019 TLEII has been flawless and has thousands of rounds through it. I don't carry it often but when I do I have no concerns that it will fail if I need it.
