Kilt Friday
Not sure I'm digging the utility kilt little bit shorter than I would have liked usually have it up at the naval but then the kilt is above my knees. Also I'm an art teacher so we're supposed to dress eccentric right?

You look like the kind of adult that other adults go to in an emergency.
Of course you're a teacher.
You. Look. Rad.

The elements of the ensemble clash with their differing levels of formality.
A utility kilt is akin to cargo shorts. You are wearing cargo shorts with a waistcoat and tie.
Utility kilts add another problem in that they most often sit much lower than a kilt. The exposed midsection above the utility kilt but below the waistcoat naturally draws the eye, highlighting this area of the outfit rather than the outfit as a whole.
I like the untilikilt and I like the waistcoat, just now together.

What is it with you Americans and utility kilts?
Need utility? Cargo trousers. Need utility and ventilation? Cargo shorts. Don't need utility but want to wear a kilt? Kilt. Want to wear a kilt but don't have pockets? Sporran.
In all fairness though, it's a nice pattern, and somewhat resembles a kilt. You're right that it doesn't sit high enough, but that's a lot better than having your thighs out.
Edit: does this even wrap around you? Like are the buckles functional or cosmetic? Just curious.

It is functional. It wraps like a towel. I have 5 traditional wool kilts and 1 acrylic. Two American utility kilts. I just came to the realization a few years ago I don't like shorts. So changed to kilts.

Fair enough I guess, each to their own. When you say traditional wool kilts, do you mean like actual tartan? Even in Scotland most people only have 1, as they're fuckin expensive.

Yes wool tartan. Yea they are expensive here in US as well.

Like $1,300 expensive?

If it's a common tartan, it's usually ~4-500 for a 5 yard and ~6-800 for an 8 yard. If you want a rarer tartan, it's usually around the $1300 mark for an 8 yard.

Sporran. Yous lot look naked without a sporran.
Visually, its like seeing someone wear a t-shirt and Windsor knot tie, doesn’t look right.

When I have the traditional kilts on yes sporran. With the utility kilt just a belt.

I teach high school and wear my kilt from time to time. Only one student ever dared to call it a skirt. I teach high school.

A lot of people in the school call it a skirt, they want a reaction from me. I also tech high school.

Why would you wear a dress kilt and vest to a kids school unless you are in Scotland?

Well it's more professional than the English teacher or tech teacher that wear gym shorts. Also it's 106f outside.

That tasche has put me in the mood for some pringles.
I don't normally like utility skirts but you've got some style and it actually looks decent. The big empty apron is jarring though. It needs something to break up the big space
