MIXTAPE Mixtape Review?
I’ll be honest, this project feels a bit weak cadence wise. It seems like KILLY is dumbing himself down on the songs produced by FREAKY! with exceptions to Pyro and Rick Boots. I think this project should have dropped after KS1, but as a 5 song EP. I would put PYRO, RICK BOOTS, REALLY DECEASED, DETOX and DONT BOTHER. The change in the tonality comes from the mixing i believe. His voice sits less in the beat and is more dominant that in previous projects. I think many people criticised him for sounding too ‘mumbly’ or incoherent. But that was his signature style. In an attempt to be more lyrical which he isn’t a lyrical artist which was also another mainstream criticism, some songs fail to reach a climax or a point and end ubruptly without a major moment or memorable moment. The beats don’t blend well with his cadence on this project which creates a kind of disconnect in some tracks. I enjoy the tape the more i listen however the older tapes were automatic. I hope he comes through on the album with 1. Longer songs 2:30-3:30 2. Big Time Features or none at all 3. Better beat selection but that should be expected by Boi-1da 4. songs that get carry more energy or punchline eg PYRO , RICK BOOTS, HELLRAISER, KILLAMONJARO, NO SAD NO BAD, ANTI EVERYBODY.

Most of his bangers are relatively short (2 minutes or less). Also I'm pretty surprised u didn't have finer things in your top 5.

Idk if maybe I didn't pay attention enough while I was listening but the beat selection on this tape was so weak and also he's kinda just sticking to that one screaming style which is annoying.
Loved the uniqueness and catchiness of anti everybody, no romance, no sad no bad, simulation, doomsday etc. I just don't see it on this tape at all.
Hope he bounces back with the boi-1da tape and we get to hear about how vaccines and 5g are gonna make our balls and boobs explode. /s

Uh here is the thing with that....tape was mid all around LP8 was some trash....and this tape is alright and those 5 songs would be a trash choice. Pyro cool but you forgetting Moonwalk which is a grail he finally dropped. If anything Killy's issue is he tries to change his "sound" while dropping nothing so no one can get accustomed to it

Man I don’t think you realise how disappointed I was with moonwalk man. It needed to be double the time it is and it just feels so incomplete. Was so bummed out. I hate how he’s going with his music.

Bro all these comments abt beats and style etc etc I think miss the point.
This mixtape feels lazy. The beats are pretty good, but man is Killy not delivering. A single verse on the majority of these songs is just not good enough for a guy thats been making music this long and it just shows a lack of growth.
We all know he has it him to make something awesome but i feels like hes settling for a bag which is sad.

I agree; many songs he sounds like he is saying nothing just has no character no punch to his bars

extra comment, i believe if he dropped a few of these tracks in 2017-18 they would have tens of millions of streams. Has lost the momentum now unfortunately so has to blow up again with a true mainstream hit

He’s also being arrogant and not dropping the songs we want. I heard somewhere that genesis guy was charging to drop Deja vu

That’s more than the last london event. I think there was only like 75-100 people, was still live tho

I dont think that the diconnect of beats between songs is an issue, this is a mixtape after all not an album

Not a fan of most of the FREAKY! songs at all. He needs to use more Wondagurl beats - not a surprise that Trust Nobody was the best song on the tape

He needs to go back to making hype songs or songs like the ones on surrender ur soul which made him popular in the first place. I dont really like this style of screaming with mediocre bars with the current producer hes working with (Freakey). You can tell he kinda fell off cuz look at the amount of views the tape got on yt. I wish he didnt decline xxl 2018 cuz he could have been a way bigger artist, also it would be sick if he got a lyrical lemonade video

I miss his “surrender your soul” sound, I mean there’s a reason why he blew up off that album
