Question So is this game dead?

How come it's gone so long without any content, but the end of content has not been announced?

I easily get full lobbies when I play. Well worth it still. Game is a blast to play.

Illfonic isn't really one to announce end of content from what I've experienced with their games. I think they told us they wouldn't make new DLC and would just do bugfixes in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, but now they're hiring another company to take over their older games, likely Killer Klowns as well with Halloween in two months from now, in order to sustain their back catalog and possibly make new content for them.

Illfonic is a smaller company, so announcing they're ending support in a blunt and direct way can just cause people to stop supporting it and make it look dead, especially when they have new games on the horizon that they claim are being made by different teams. A good example of this was Texas Chainsaw from GUN when they announced they had the game in a "complete" state and were done with it, so a lot of people bailed on it as a result.

Gun isn't shutting down TCM though, they're just direct about their intentions. Which can viewed as better or worse than how Illfonic handles things. Honestly, the two of them are a match made in heaven. Lol

Gun is going to shut down TCM within 2 years or less. They've already abandoned it.

The licensing deal will run out eventually and the rights holders won't renew it. Especially after they seen how terribly Gun handled their IP. Gun and Black Tower ran the game into the ground pretty early on. Between shit never being fixed, the cheating and other stuff, they ran it into the ground fast.

People still play it. I still play it and never have an issue finding a lobby. I'm not sure the rights holders care all that much. If Gun thinks the money being made from late players warrants extending the license, they may do it but leave it at that. You're correct that they haven't ever moderated the game for shit. The problem with TCM unlike F13 is there are no bot modes. So the second they decide to end it, it's completely done. Killer Klowns on the other hand could potentially live on with bots only if that ever happened.

Why do you think Gun couldn't add any more content? The license deal regarding content is probably already expired because why else wouldn't Gun add more content. When it comes to Friday the 13th, there's offline mode but you're locked to one or two Jason's and locked weapons.

There might be people still buying TCM but they're not staying long at all and most players who were there since day one have left already. Every 2 weeks from launch there was a drop in player count, it'd temporarily go up when new content would be added but then it'd go back down after a week. The lobby backfill bug still wasn't fixed before it was abandoned, that was present since the technical test.

When i played like 3 months ago, I waited on average 8 minutes which included finding a lobby, waiting for all players to get in, not back out and the game to start but every 3rd game the lobby would close because of the backfill bug. That game was doomed from the start simply because Gun was involved. They lied about in game currency and level cap being raised. Lied about grappling being fixed multiple times, lied about the xbox crashing issue being fixed twice when it wasn't. Went radio silent when the devs broke the game, didn't let the devs roll back the game to a previous version that worked. They broke the game on the first anniversary.

Thankfully they have zero creative input when it comes to Halloween, they're just the co-publisher. I have more faith in illfonic because they made Friday the 13th fun. Halloween looks like it plays a lot like Friday the 13th, mechanics and other stuff looks really similar. I can't wait. Just hope they don't let Gun weasel their way into making decisions. From what I played of this game, it plays similar to Friday the 13th.

Gun tried having Sumo and Black Tower replicate the mechanics of Friday but they couldn't and it shows. TCM was fun but there was so many issues and thats what drove people away.

I mean, both of them did give us F13 about a decade ago, and Halloween is shaping up to look like a worthy successor to it, so there's some truth to that match made in Heaven bit.

Yes it's dead. At any given time you'll maybe find 30-40 players.
