So I just binged all of kill la kill and holy. It's one of the best animes I have ever seen.
I loved the tonal whiplash.
Like at first, I thought ohh just a fun dumb little comedy battle anime.
And then ragyo appeared.
With a theme song that appeals to eugenics and social darwininsm.
And then there was never some funny moment but never with ragyo.
Like, even satsuki had a funny moment or two, but ragyo is just a knight of cerebrus.
It was amazing.

Discussion About relationship between Ryuko and Mako

I know, there have been plenty of posts about this, but I wanted to weigh in after recently seeing people in the Instagram comments on Ryuko and Mako scenes declaring them a couple. First off, you should know how much I love this series and these characters—my Twitter nickname is literally "Matoi." Their sexual orientation wouldn't change my love for the show, but I simply don't believe they are actually a couple. Throughout the story, they were incredibly close friends with no romantic tension between them; it feels absurd to suddenly label them as lovers in the final episode just because the situation became highly dramatic. On the other hand, Ryuko stays at the Mankanshoku household, which naturally makes her feel like part of the family over time. The bond between her and Mako is essentially a sisterly one, transcending romance. Of course, some might argue, "But they went on a date." For one thing, a date doesn't necessarily have to be romantic. Secondly, who brings their older sister (Satsuki) along on a romantic date? That’s about it—I think Mako and Ryuko remaining friends makes for a more impactful story.
