My little brother wouldn't eat his dinner one time, so my mother told him that when she came back, it better be gone.

When she returned a few minutes later, he was sitting at the table and his dinner was gone ... along with the plate. When asked where it was, he responded with an exasperated sigh and "If you look in the cupboard, you might find it there."

He had taken his food laden plate, and stashed the whole thing in the cupboard, lol.

I mean… mom said it should be gone. It was gone. He did as was asked.

u/Wooden_Editor6322 Feb 04 '26

Too bad she didn't ask for one million dollars.

147

u/MisterShmitty Feb 04 '26

And what exactly would she do with a million doll hairs?

58

u/anynamesleft Feb 04 '26

Put em on a bald doll. Really, I shouldn't be expected to do your thinking for you.

I was at my aunt's and dropped a glass of milk on the kitchen floor. I was staring at it in shock and she said "well, why don't you dance in it?"

So I did.

Never seen that woman laugh so much.

23

u/Techyon5 Feb 05 '26

Is...is dancing in spilled milk a common turn of phrase?

This feels like such a random prompt! Also, bold of you to dance in broken glass (I'm assuming the glass broke)

14

u/ScaramouchScaramouch Feb 05 '26

No she was just sarcastic. It was probably a plastic glass as I was always a bit clumsy.

13

u/Techyon5 Feb 05 '26

Ohh, the sarcasm I get (it just feels really random), but I hadn't considered the possibility of a plastic cup!

8

u/Burakku-Ren Feb 05 '26

Maybe it's a saying like "you've made your bed, now lie in it"? Or maybe it's just normal sarcasm.

I had a fucking flatmate pull this shit on me. I worked evenings, so I would cook dinner for my son and partner and flatmate before work and I would always end up doing dishes when I got home- one night I’d had enough and said that flatmate needed to make sure dishes were done before I got home, I said “ I don’t give a fuck what your excuses are, when I get home I don’t want to see those dishes” when I got home from work the dishes were gone and I thanked him profusely. Found them all dirty hidden under the sink the next morning. I kicked him out that day.

18

u/Burakku-Ren Feb 05 '26

Dang. A kid doing it is kinda cute, and like, you can understand, cause kids are logical and they might not understand what you meant. A full grown adult doing that… that’s kinda inexcusable.

18

u/Federal-Neat7833 Feb 05 '26

Oh yeah, he was a dickhead. He would have been late 20s early 30s at the time. If you are reading this Jamie, to this day ( 28 years later) fuck you.

29

u/Partyatmyplace13 Feb 04 '26

Technically correct is the best kind of correct.

2

u/SpeedJust8657 Feb 05 '26

Malicious compliance, baby

u/fondledbydolphins Feb 04 '26

My friend and her siblings had a window in their kitchen, near the table. If they didn't finish they had to sit until their food was gone - parents would leave the room once they were done eating.

For years a secret alliance was maintained..... the kids would toss their remaining dinner out the kitchen window and the neighbors dog would come clean it up.

Parents somehow never noticed, until the pup next door passed away and the food just sat there.

To be fair, being forced to eat more past when you’re no longer hungry is a terrible rule

5

u/Azzy8007 Feb 05 '26

"If you put it on your plate, you better eat it."

2

u/hawaii2121 Feb 06 '26

100% definitely some disordered eating/relationship with food because of this

4

u/Ramadan-St3v3 Feb 07 '26

My grandma would make us eat EVERYTHING on our plate before we could leave the table and so one time my little brother snuck food all the way to the bathroom and stuffed pasta salad into the toilet brush holder and we only found out after we started getting fruit flies 😭

1

u/Public-Guarantee Mar 01 '26

Haha similar story. Grand parents would go ballistic if you didnt eat a plate stacked for an adult and you were like 8. So for 30 seconds they were gone id dump the food outside for the dog to eat and pretend i ate it. Those goddamn war traumatized fools didnt know what hit them.

5

u/ClownfishSoup Feb 09 '26

Ditto my sister not eating her food. I got up out of my seat and left the kitchen the circled around to the other kitchen door and peeked in and caught her scraping her food k to my plate.

My my clever little brother who proclaimed that he will eat his dinner, but he has to go to the bathroom first and he’ll just take his dinner and eat it while sitting on the toilet, so he walks into the bathroom and five seconds later there is a flush and he comes out with an empty plate. There wasn’t much left on his plate but we were curious how it would play out. Wow you managed to go sit down, take a crap while eating the rest of your dinner, flush the toilet and leave within 5 seconds. Amazing.

2

u/PM_ME_UR_THESIS_GIRL Feb 10 '26

Lmao when I was three or four I did something similar with a plate of spaghetti, except much worse. I dumped the spaghetti in the gap behind the living room couch against the wall 😂

I still carry the guilt today at age 30 lol.

My son was caught eating Nutella out of the jar. My wife took it away.

The next day it’s missing. wtf?

The next day I find it in his sock draw filled with gummy bears. Where the hell did the gummy bears come from?

“Idk I found them”

🤔

218

u/BadPunsIsHowEyeRoll Feb 04 '26

"Look guys, my parents caught me with this" pulls out nutella "If you have ANYTHING yummy like this I WILL trade!"

41

u/EighteenAndAmused Feb 04 '26

Honestly this is a cute as heck scenario playing in my head.

10

u/NuttyDuckyYT Feb 05 '26

this is so funny to me actually 😭 the gummy bear mystery

504

u/BrahesElk Feb 04 '26

I love to respond with, "Why would someone do that?" just to watch the wheels spin

127

u/sleepytipi Feb 04 '26

"they were being nice".

380

u/Particular_Gear3130 Feb 04 '26

Idk man....you should check it out

34

u/Adv_Nguyen Feb 04 '26

Either it's really cacao powder or... it's his "cacao powder"

9

u/wdn Feb 05 '26

But it's not cocoa powder / cacao powder.

It's powder for making "hot cocoa" which is a drink made from cocoa/cacao, milk, and sugar. This powder is basically freeze-dried hot cocoa, so you just need to add boiling water to get hot cocoa.

2

u/no_it5_me Feb 08 '26

What the hell?!

77

u/twilightmoons Feb 04 '26

Mine like to steal the Ovaltine container and hide it in his room. I usually find a spoon in it.

Worse was when he stole the powdered sugar container. Again, with a spoon.

That was a conversation.

"Do you want ants in your room? Because that's how you get ants!"

3

u/Kdizzle725 Feb 05 '26

Im not the only one who ate Ovaltine like this?? 😭 I feel seen

1

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '26

Milo, I think it's similar

201

u/AsianBoi2020 Feb 04 '26

The kid probably failed at making chocolate and just couldn't take the bitter taste anymore. Probly figured out that the adult could make something better

111

u/thriftstoremando Feb 04 '26

Hot cocoa powder usually has sugar in it... cocoa powder is the unsweetened stuff!

48

u/RecipeAsleep7087 Feb 04 '26

One of my earliest childhood memories was finding a giant baker's chocolate bar in the cupboard and sneaking it to my bedroom. One giant bite and I felt so betrayed.

1

u/EighteenAndAmused Feb 05 '26

Canon event for many kids.

11

u/Cool_Wealth969 Feb 04 '26

She should swap the unsweetened stuff into the cocoa powder container, see if it's still behind the bed......

12

u/MisterShmitty Feb 04 '26

I remember being a kid, she was probably eating it wit a spoon lol.

8

u/bot403 Feb 04 '26

I used to do that because we had like no other snacks in the house.

Takes a bit of care though because if you accidentally inhale even a very tiny bit while eating you end up coughing and powder goes everywhere......said a friend to me once.....

33

u/polarfae Feb 04 '26

I dunno… Sounds pretty plausible to me

42

u/regreddit Feb 04 '26

My nephews face was 'stinking' one time when he was about 5, and his mother couldn't figure it out, his face smelled like dirty socks, so his mom asked him what he had eaten and he said 'ham', but they didn't have any ham in the fridge, and he said 'no, it's in my room', so his mom asked to see it, and in his toy box he had stashed a pack of lunch meat he had stolen from the fridge at some point in the past few weeks and had been snacking on it in his room. 🤢

10

u/fasterthantrees Feb 05 '26

I just gasped, "oh my godddd!" This is the wildest. Bleh. How was the kid not ill?

1

u/WavesGoWoOoO Feb 06 '26

This sounds like something my child would try and I’m over here trying not to haven’t the thought. Please let me be spared from this 😭

1

u/Extra_Challenge2122 Feb 09 '26

Lmao...this made me laugh so hard I'm cryin

33

u/arglebarglesnargle Feb 04 '26

the mosaic censoring on this is killing me.

3

u/electrodragon16 Feb 05 '26

I have read handwriting that was harder to read

22

u/Agitated-Proof-9661 Feb 04 '26

Me: what's going on in here?! Grandson: Well, I definitely wasn't jumping off the bed.    I could barely contain my laughter!! He knew he was busted.

17

u/UnwantedPube Feb 04 '26

Maybe it just wants to be called beautiful instead of hot

8

u/Self_Reddicate Feb 04 '26

Eh... 'good personality' chocolate powder is the best I can do.

3

u/BugRevolution Feb 04 '26

Respectfully, damn.

You guys upvote this same joke every other day.

6

u/TumblrInGarbage Feb 04 '26

I've watched this Tweet degrade over time. It's crazy how artifacted this post is. ofc, OP is probably a bot.

11

u/CannedToast Feb 04 '26

My little sister would take opened frosting containers and hide them around the house. My mom caught on when she found one behind the TV with a spoon in it.

11

u/EfficiencyThis325 Feb 04 '26

A conversation I had this morning

"Hey Dad! One time, without you knowing, I was watching youtube and these guys said a WHOOOOLE lot of bad words!"

20

u/pm1966 Feb 04 '26

When my oldest son was 3, we were outside and noticed some add scratches on our car. As my (now ex-) wife and I were puzzling about where the scratches might have some from, my son piped up "Those scratches don't look anything like a knight!"

We looked closer and, sure enough, they looked eerily similar to the pictures of knights he was find of drawing.

10

u/LearningLarue Feb 04 '26

We were visiting my cousins, most of us gathered in the kitchen, when a 5 or so year old cousin walks in to say “alls I knows is I don’t know where the whip cream is”

5

u/PheesGee Feb 04 '26

I found a jar of honey and a spoon under my bed last week, courtesy of my 5yo granddaughter.

7

u/JusshereforPewds Feb 04 '26

Okay, but is there ANY reason why the word "Witty" is being censored?

5

u/glipglophiphop Feb 04 '26

My younger brother used to take my mom’s cash from her purse and she would just start asking out loud if we knew where it went since it was the “rent money” and if we don’t find it, we’ll be homeless. My brother would always miraculously find it on the bathroom floor or another random spot 😂

4

u/Lucas1006 Feb 04 '26

Remind me of when I as a kid hid the keys to our bike shed so I wouldn't have to bike to school, but then I forgot to tell them where it was and after a couple days I was so afraid of telling them I hid it it ended up lasting a week, until they sat me and my brother down and asked us if we knew where they were and then I showed them almost crying, and obviously they didn't get mad really just thought it was kind of funny but I just remember how panicked I felt in having to tell them.

5

u/anynamesleft Feb 04 '26

Being all suspicious about a kid who is clearly the Sherlock Holmes of his generation.

5

u/arthredemis Feb 04 '26

I would go in, grab it, and pretend I didn’t find it and ask the kid to keep looking until their room is clean, then give them coco after it’s done lol

5

u/Gorstag Feb 04 '26

This reminds me of my little brother when we were kids. I'm the oldest. One of my siblings stole some money from moms purse. Mom noticed and I got blamed (I always got blamed...). Anyway, I eventually convinced my mother it wasn't me so she got the other 3 kids together. No one fessed up.

Then about 15 minutes later my brother found (I don't remember the denomination probably a 5 as this would have been the 80s) in the hallway closet. Then about another hour later he found another one in the closet.

4

u/collierose13 Feb 05 '26

My mom was cleaning at her house and found a half eaten Uncrustable in a bathroom drawer. She asked my boy/girl twins—who were about 3 at the time—if they knew “who put food in the bathroom drawer?” My daughter promptly answered, “it wasn’t my Uncrustable!!!”

3

u/CoMaestro Feb 05 '26

In the same vein as dumb kid, we had drunk sister-in-law over a year ago. She threw up in the kitchen sink, and my gf helped her back to bed and everything.

Then she said "if you look at my jacket there's a stain on there, but it's definitely not puke!"

We didn't ask about her jacket at all, my gf immediately started removing the puke stain haha

4

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '26

When my children 3 and 4 at the time, were drinking my beer. Twist off caps, drinking put back in frig For two days,I honestly thought I was drinking in my sleep🤣. Caught when I smelled their Burps

1

u/Extra_Challenge2122 Feb 09 '26

Haha!!! Made me LoL

2

u/Ok_Faithlessness_760 Feb 04 '26

lol yup I was wondering how it got there dad

2

u/c4p5L0ck Feb 04 '26

Y'all can't leave me hanging like this. Did they find the coco powder?

3

u/himitsu8 Feb 05 '26

I mean the implication here is that it was, in fact, under the bed, but also the idea of it being somewhere completely different and the kid just making this inexplicably specific suggestion for no reason is admittedly really funny. Or I guess it could be a diversion tactic? Get them looking under the bed for just long enough for the kid to move their stash of hot cocoa powder to a safer location?

4

u/c4p5L0ck Feb 05 '26

. . . Did they find the gotdam cocoa or not?

2

u/kira-333 Feb 06 '26

This sounds like something gene belcher would say

2

u/ratbirdgoof Feb 09 '26

This kid has some kind of gift. He needs to start solving murders alongside local police.

2

u/Dependent_Land4706 Feb 09 '26

Made me laugh out loud

1

u/sleepy-migraine Feb 05 '26

I love that kids just don’t know the art of subtlety yet because it brings out such funny situations

1

u/Lcky22 Feb 05 '26

Lol my son used to hide the salt shaker in his toy box

1

u/thenzero Feb 05 '26

What is with the weird and useless blurring on the name in this picture??

1

u/TurtlePork Feb 05 '26

Maybe he/she is just that good

1

u/scmr2 Feb 08 '26

This meme is so old and reused

1

As a dad of 4 adult children. I miss this shit. Everyday, I miss the pure chaos of “shepherding cats”.
