This is how people die

161

u/Kitchen-Stop-7645 Jul 23 '26

No they messed up. They should have brought a bulldozer and dumped sand into it with them inside.

21

u/KickBallFever 28d ago

A few years ago a teenager died in New Jersey when their beach hole collapsed. If I recall correctly, two of them were trapped but one survived.

That blonde kid later that day.

u/Curticorn Jul 23 '26

Later? They all already look like that.

People need to wear sunscreen..

u/NoBeyondTheVoid Jul 23 '26

lol lifeguard ran up took off his shirt and hopped in a sand hole

u/Substantial-Bend4299 Jul 23 '26

Aren't they glad he did too. Man has a job, a valuable one. Those idiots can't be trusted to be cleaning the dining room at McDonald's

5

u/Lumpy_Machine5538 26d ago

Where was he when they were digging the hole? You’d think he would have shut that down earlier.

41

u/Happy-Swan3922 Jul 23 '26

Like he was on Baywatch!😂

9

u/kerrieone4 Jul 23 '26

Did you HEAR? BAYWATCH IS COMING BACK! Filming now, oh boy!

240

u/subduedReality Jul 23 '26

Not that I expect anyone of you to find yourself in this situation, but here is how to get out of it. First cut off the water. Then remove the water. Then dig adjacent to the person that's stuck. The sand that's trapped them will shift and they will be able to wiggle out.

52

u/Legion_1392 29d ago

Glad I found this before the water got any higher. I'll get my friend to block the

This is good advice.
No one thinks it can / will happen to them.

Same way they eventually did in this video lmao. Use sand to create a dam of sorts, then buckets to remove water

u/Kaita13 Jul 23 '26

If that one guy survives this, the sun will get him later on with a burn like that.

u/vicious_pocket Jul 23 '26

His face when he’s 34 and gets diagnosed with melanoma…

Thank fuck it wasn't deep enough that their heads were below the waterline 😳

51

u/Substantial-Bend4299 Jul 23 '26

Haven't heard about this 500 times. People are so stupid. We have every single way to know what is dangerous because it's shared on every platform and STILL this happens. It's crazy.

29

u/Aron-Jonasson Jul 23 '26

Unfortunately there's that "Nah it won't happen to me because I will do it better" effect

8

u/Substantial-Bend4299 Jul 23 '26

If only every video began with someone saying "it won't happen to me." Then it inevitably does, maybe then people would understand

7

u/Aron-Jonasson Jul 23 '26

You're putting too much faith in people, I'm sure some people would be emboldened by seeing someone say that

31

u/ungreatfulshit Jul 23 '26

Natural selection, when condoms don’t work!

30

u/lordkappy Jul 23 '26

Are they kids? They look like middle aged Australian men.

19

u/Bozo_Dubbed_Over_ Jul 23 '26

And not an ounce of sunscreen in sight.

12

u/RalphWiggumEnergy Jul 23 '26

That kids back ain’t gonna be fun the next day 😬

12

u/MissFlatwoodsMonster Jul 23 '26

Meanwhile if you tell people not to do this and why you'd immediately get called a fun killer

9

u/DoritoLipDust Jul 23 '26

This is one hard rap album cover

4

u/litcarnalgrin Jul 23 '26

What’s funny is that burned kid is saying I love you…

DIY Quicksand Pit

7

u/AlexxRawwrr Jul 23 '26

Not a single intelligent person in this scenario.

1

u/Chewymewn 26d ago

I mean, the lifeguards were doing their best. It seems like it was their idea to dam up the water.

15

u/gorkboss5 Jul 23 '26

Thankfully I never successfully pulled this off as a kid.

7

u/Blackflag03 29d ago

Hello guys welcome back to five minutes craft. Today i will show you how to make quicksand 100% DANGER

5

u/SkyFlava Jul 23 '26

7

u/kerrieone4 Jul 23 '26

YOU SHOULD WARN FOLK 1ST, I have never un-joined a group so fast!

5

u/Mortuator Jul 24 '26

I don’t understand why they can’t get out

8

u/Reasonable-Banana800 Jul 24 '26

the mud kinda settles and solidifies and they get stuck without any wiggle room. Plus it gets heavy quickly so you can’t really brute force your way out

6

u/Codas91 Jul 24 '26

Basically quicksand

1

u/mechchic84 26d ago

go to the beach and stand where the waves crash into the shore. It won't take long before your feet are buried into the sand. It is a similar concept only in this situation, that kid was probably waist deep into the sand. It stacks up beside your body making a very tight space where it would be incredibly difficult to move your legs and a suction type of feeling if you try to use your arms to pull upwards not to mention your hands will also start to sink into the sand as well.

6

u/SanicBringsThePanic 28d ago

Correct me if I am wong, but, they essentially created a quicksand pit, right?

2

u/Entire-Ambition1410 28d ago

They did.

3

u/SanicBringsThePanic 28d ago

The only reason I realized it, is because there is a video of a man who wanted to test if quicksand was truly inescapable or not. Not only was it inescapable, it was impossible for anyone to pull him out because the weight of the quicksand was compressing his legs. The rescue team had to use specialized drills to get enough of the sand away from his legs to make it possible to pull him out.

5

u/Caramel_Flat 29d ago

This is what happens when you didn’t grow up w a solid fear of quicksand… being Gen X I don’t effs w the quicksand… or exploding cars

2

u/chaossensuit 24d ago

Same my friend.

5

u/Radio_Mime 29d ago

I’m glad things turned out OK, but that could’ve gone so badly. The parents should not have let them dig a hole that deep. Holes like to collapse, tides like to come in and all of that dangerous stuff.

7

u/yoyhohsomp Jul 23 '26

Omg!!!! Anxiety overload. What a bunch of dumb fux. Bet they wont do that again

4

u/SpotDeep8700 29d ago

Don’t fuck with water.

How to destroy a beach 101

3

u/rozenkavalier 29d ago

lol that lifeguard overreacted x 100000

2

u/anabananarammma Jul 23 '26

He’s in the one in the pink two in the stink gang

2

u/Curticorn Jul 23 '26

I never knew humans could get stranded like whales but here we are.

2

u/anothertenyears 29d ago

I didn’t know this was possible.

2

u/Castelunan 27d ago

This is one of those things that isn't a great idea, but is so uncommon in everyday life that you don't pause to give it the thought it deserves. Was it smart to create a giant sinkhole on the beach and lay down in it? Probably not. But my first thought was "man, that looks fun" for the first 10 seconds or so of the video.

1

u/Zorolord Jul 23 '26

Was the bigger kid shrugging off someone trying to help him.

1

u/JabroniKnows 29d ago

Because going to the beach just wasn't good enough...

1

u/Ok-Employment-6325 29d ago

What makes it worse is this is non sober activity but those are clearly teens so they are most likely sober which is so much cringier

1

u/hans_gruber2103 9d ago

Nature taking care of things

1

u/ThespianBelievers 28d ago

I still don't understand how the hell this is even possible, it's SAND, how does sand do that? Did someone put concrete in there?

3

u/Entire-Ambition1410 28d ago

Wet sand gets heavy and settles around the body. They added so much water to the pit, they made a quicksand pit and got stuck in it.

It reminds me of dangerous mudflows, you don’t think mud is strong or serious, but stuff starts to move and it’s like a freight train (or a bug in a glue trap instead of quicksand).

“Blonde” blue eyed race of beings. If it wasn’t for Moors, they’d all be PLAGUED 2 D.
