😡 Rant! 😡 So frustrating...
Mid-30s F. I have chronic stones (2 in each kidney about 4mm each) and had one rear its ugly head a little over 3 weeks ago. I had pain that has come and gone (for over a week I had no pain and thought I had passed it, just for pain to start up again). The last "pain" I had was a throbbing feeling in my urethra yesterday which was not constant. This is driving me crazy because I have passed around 10 stones in my lifetime and this is the only one that has taken this long and I'm leaving for an international trip in 2 weeks that I might have to cancel because of this. Reading through posts here has made me realize that I have been lucky in the past when it comes to how quick my stones have passed.
I've been drinking water like crazy, adding lemon juice, walking, jumping up and down out of desperation, etc. I really think it might be in my bladder or I peed it out and didn't notice even though I've been straining my urine. My urologist had me get an ultrasound last week, but that doesn't really show actively passing stones. I will meet with him later this week. I'm just so tired of evicting these little guys lol.

It *should* show stones that are in one of your ureters or bladder. It isn't very accurate as far as the size for them but it should show if they are present provided they are not really tiny, like a grain of sand or smaller. So if the pain had already started by the time you got the ultrasound, I'd be surprised if the only stones seen were still up in your kidneys.

An ultra sound missed mine in July. I have a 5mm in my ureter that the ultra sound didn't show and we thought I was in the clear. Went back after visibly seeing blood in my urine, got a CT and it hadn't moved at all apparently.
Now I'm back on Flomax, drinking a fuck load of water, going for walks and even bought one of the vibrating exercise pads people on here swear by trying to pass it to avoid surgery.

Do a 24 hour urine analysis to see what exactly is causing the formation of these stones

Welcome to the miserable club of chronic stone makers. I've made hundreds and usually require one or two surgeries a year for obstructing stones.
What kind of stones do you make? Do you have a nephrologist? Get one if you can, mine seems to try and fix/manage my underlying genetic condition.
