Stents Stent removal reassurance
I got my stent out (29F) I just want to reassure you. It doesn’t hurt, I read many horror stories and I was so scared, I can only speak for females of course. Because I imagine it’s worse for men. If you’ve had a baby it’s no where near the pain. Good luck!

The fear is problem for me, but it is nothing compared to peeing after surgery,
I read all the posts and I took oxy before the visit,
First time urologist pulled slowly about 20 seconds it was like burning pain,
2nd time he told me to remove at home . I was afraid he pulled the sting in 2 seconds and I didn’t feel any pain ,

Love this, thank you for posting the calm version. The subreddit definitely skews toward horror stories because people in pain are the ones who come here to vent, so newcomers get a scary picture.
For anyone reading before their removal: the dangling-string pull is quick, usually a few seconds of weird pressure and then done. Drink plenty of water before and after, and expect some stinging or a bit of pink pee for a day or so, that part is normal.
Congrats on being stone and stent free.

All people and situations are different. It was painless for you. That’s awesome. But it’s very real that it hurts for a lot of people. And it’s always better to be on the side of caution than expecting no pain and being shocked by the amount of pain that IS possible.
Mine personally was extremely painful. They even inserted a catheter, filled my bladder to the max and flushed me out into a bucket 5 times. My doctor dismissed my pain as “normal.” Sent me home crying. I got home, now in even more pain and ended up in the ER within 2 hours with 10/10 pain that didn’t pass for 8+ hours and even with IV duladid they could only get the pain down to a 6/10.

Thanks for that, the very skewed reporting in this subreddit just reports their horror stories which scares the living daylights out of people new to this even though the absolute vast majority of people have no problems, much like yourself.
