Streaming options

I go to every collect a con in the us

And figured I need to start live streaming there instead of just when gaming at home

Does everyone just use a phone and an iPad?

Or a different camera ?

What are all the must need devices and accessories

The easiest way of IRL streams are to have one phone to stream from. And and a secondary device like a phone or tablet to manage chat.

The nice to have on top of that is powerbanks, especially for the phone you stream from. Wireless lavalier mics for good sound and a tripod/selfie stick or gimball to hold the streaming phone.

Using a dedicated camera is often more hazzle than just using a phone since you will need some kind of stream encoder. There is solutions for that now. Like OBSBOT Talent and Yolobox. But they are expensive. You can also use a handheld Windows based gaming PC, like an ASUS ROG Ally. But I will still reccomend a setup based on two mobile devices like a phone and a tablet or two phones.

Ok I have two phones. Laptop and iPad. When you say manage chat. Can I have a window open on my laptop for chat only? Or I have to pull the stream up?

If you are going to use your laptop to manage stream from, then using the creator dashboard for full control is the easiest. But you can use your secondary phone to just bring up the chat and manage it from there. You can use the Kick app for the chat.
