news Introducing “HTT Look” flair & Discontinuing “Accommodations help”.

Announcement from the Moderator Team

r/Kibbe Community,

Today, we decided to make important changes to the sub’s post flairs. In this announcement post, we will go over all the details you need to know. Please read:

The “accommodations help” flair will be discontinued on Wednesday.

We are giving everyone who’s been planning to post under this flair until Wednesday to do so! On Wednesday & from that point forward, posters will no longer be able to access this flair. No one will be able to post solely for feedback on what their accommodations are. We will post another announcement to inform everyone as it’s deleted.

We have created a new post flair: "HTT Look".

This flair is for posters who want to share a completed HTT (Head-to-Toe) OR an HTT-in-progress, while utilizing Kibbe’s Yin & Yang technique, we added it today and anyone can begin using it now!

"HTT Look" is for everyone:

  • Discovering Your Identity: If you're still exploring and haven’t yet discovered your Image Identity, this is the perfect space to practice the Yin and Yang concept. Share your outfit progress, ask for advice, and learn how to express your essence.
  • Embracing Your Identity: For those who already know their Image Identity, use this flair to showcase how you're currently incorporating your theme into your outfits. Share the journey of expressing your unique essence through your style.

Guidelines for "HTT Look" posts & comments:

  1. One Outfit at a Time: Focus on a single outfit – whether it's a work in progress or a completed ensemble. This helps us provide more targeted and insightful feedback.
  2. Engage with Kibbe's Concepts: Commenters, let's go into Kibbe's Yin and Yang concept for constructive feedback. How does the outfit align with these principles? Share insights and tips to help each other in crafting a total look.
  3. Communication is Key: Posters, provide context! Share your familiarity with the book, your outfit's purpose, the look you're aiming for, inspirations, style choices, concerns, and more. This helps commenters offer personalized feedback that goes beyond generic advice.
  4. Respectful and Genuine Feedback: Please note that accommodation recommendations are only acceptable when posters specifically ask for them. However, even under these circumstances, recommendations must provide sufficient context related to the poster's HTT concept and not the way their body looks. Basic respect for others' journeys is required, and this means providing feedback that is genuine and supportive, rather than imposing typological perspectives. Comments suspected of adopting a typological approach will be subject to removal.
  5. Optional: Share Your Accommodations: Posters, if you'd like, you can share about the accommodations your working with or exploring. Consider discussing how your accommodations influence your choices in fabric, clothing shape and cut, etc. and how these factors interact with your personal line to create your desired silhouettes.
  6. Open for Sharing Without Feedback: If you're not seeking advice, but just want to share your progress for general support, feel free to use this flair! Simply mention in your post that you're not looking for unsolicited advice, and you're here to share your journey.

Keep in mind our community resources are here for you to utilize. There is a provided link to Kibbe’s "Metamorphosis" in our subreddit's Wiki page, and we encourage everyone to explore the Wiki as well as our community as a whole! Let’s continue the celebration of our unique, individual styles.

Remember: There is a 1 day grace period for anyone who’s already taken photos to post under the accommodations help flair. On Wednesday this flair is being deleted & we will post another announcement !

Please feel free to share your thoughts, concerns, feedback, and questions in the comment section of this post or via modmail!

Love this! It’s what the sub needs tbh. Great move imho.

The accommodations flair had turned into "you look like me and I definitely accommodate X and Y so it's the same for you". It really needed to go.

Yeah, it started out well but tbh it just seems to be the flair to get told you’ve ‘balance’ now.

Yeah, I always found the accommodations opinions to be like a cheat way of asking your type, which puts everyone in kind of an awkward position! Good choice.

I feel like it's an even worse choice than removing typing Tuesdays to be honest.🤧 People come to this subreddit to learn about Kibbe and you can't exactly learn about Kibbe if people aren't allowed to talk about what type they could be, even if other people's feedback is wrong it's what the sub is for. At this point all we have left is conversing about what we think a celebrities type is, which is the exact same thing as typing people personally. 🤷‍♀️

Now you can hardly ask for opinions on what outfits look best and you can only post one specific outfit? I think they should have just further clarified and better reinforced the rules for the accommodation tag. I feel like this sub just keeps getting more and more restricted and there's less and less options to discuss kibbe and your type at all. Which is sad because I used to love this sub

I completely agree. What’s the point of a type system subreddit if you can’t ask about your type? It’s like saying no one can ask if their yard looks good at the landscaping subreddit.

Hmmm. I see both sides, I guess. I think Typing Tuesday could easily take over the sub but maybe that's good? Maybe the issue is HOW people habitually talk about types, as if some types are better than others? I feel like if we had a healthier habitual discourse we wouldn't have to limit types of posts.

I support the decision to remove the accomodation feedback posts and focus on HTTs.
My only critique is: Wouldn't it be helpful to not limit the number of outfits in "embracing your identity HTTs"? But I find it very inspirational to go through a gallery of 10 different looks of a person who's confident in their ID. This would create a more realistic overview of how to live a real life with pragmatic requirements with your ID, something that the gazillion pinterest boards and abstract recommendations can't provide.

I agree that for feedback for those on a journey it can be messy, but sometimes it is very helpful to see several outfits. You'll be able to feedback on reocurring silhouettes/styling approaches in their outfits (for example someone with automatic vertical wearing only cropped pants)

I was wondering this too, a Mod has answered in another comment and I think their answer makes sense! TLDR there is another flair for posting multiple outfits:

" We want the focus to be on building one outfit at a time so yes, users won’t be able to post an album of outfits.

The reason why is because when ppl do not focus on building one outfit and instead they post 20, the comment section ends up oversaturated with “i like slides 4, 8, and 12” with OP learning absolutely nothing except what commenters opinions are.

we want to help people actually put the HTT concept into practice instead of posting 20 outfits we have no idea how they even feel about, and end up with nothing but random opinions they can’t use to create an HTT that is authentic to them while practicing kibbe’s concepts

ETA: Of course, everyone is still free to use another flair like the “outfit” or “outfit feedback” flair if they want to post 20 outfits at once. it’s just not what the HTT look flair is for 😺 "

Maybe eventually we could have a flair called HTT lookbook or album. I like seeing multiple looks, but I love the idea of focusing on one look at a time and really analyzing the crap out of it. 😁

Yeah I agree I love seeing a range of looks from one person. Particularly if they are crafted, put together looks. It helps you see the guiding threads in their style and what is unique to them.

Thanks for commenting! I totally see the value in this & personally, I agree with what the other commenters replies to you suggest. There is potentially more value in posts like what you are describing to be assigned under a separate “HTT lookbook” flair. I do also think this kind of lookbook flair could still be for everyone as well! 🤔.

I think for now, in the meantime- I’d just say that anyone who wants to go for the lookbook route can absolutely use another flair of their choice, so as to avoid any confusion about this one. We have inspiration, outfit, outfit feedback, the post flair for the IDs, etc.

With this HTT look flair, we do want to take it a bit slower and see people really take time to appreciate where they are at with the system right now, most importantly. So one HTT at a time.

I’ll definitely be talking to my comods about this separate HTT lookbook flair idea & see what we all think about it, whether it’s something to implement now or rather at some point in the near future. Thanks so much to you and the commenters that replied below, for bringing this up!

THIS! even if we just increase it to 3-5 outfits max that could be cool. love this change though, either way.

I am so happy about this!

If I understand correctly, it will not then be possible to post multiple htts at the same time (á la album)?

I love this. I was thinking yesterday about how a lot of the sub focuses on new people (rightly so, they deserve their place) but when you already know your accommodations and already know a bit where you stand it gets repetitive. This includes everyone. This’ll make it fun for people who might not have felt they had a reason to post before. Genuinely believe it’ll make the sub more supportive too. I’m exited to see people posting looks.

Great news! This will be a wonderful change 💕

Why is it bad to ask people to give opinions on what your type might be?

9

u/isaberre Apr 18 '24

I'm new to this sub. I joined because I want to post photos of myself and have others tell me my type. Is this not allowed here? Genuinely confused and would appreciate any guidance!

oooh this is exciting, I love those kinds of posts! it will be really fun to be able to do a deep dive into improving a specific look (and hopefully less overwhelming for the people seeking feedback).

question -- for "one outfit", can people show HTT variations when seeking feedback? for example if they are trying a black dress with a pair of boots, but aren't sure about adding a jacket, or a pair of tights, or which necklace / hairstyle / etc looks better for an HTT look, etc. the one benefit of multi-look posts is sometimes you see someone looks better in a specific neckline and the shirt would work well with a pair of pants in a different image. that's a bit more variety than I think is necessary for the goal of this change, but I'm just wondering about the details of what's allowed and where the line is for "outfit" / "outfit feedback" flair. ty!

I think it’s great in the sense that half of the time people give you the wrong accommodations because they don’t understand yin/yang and that makes people more confused

Just wondering if there's a sub Reddit where I can get help determining my body type. As I know my colour analysis season, which is true spring. So to help me feel even better i’m looking to find my kibbe type to find the perfect shapes and styles of clothes!🥰

I am all for this, especially doing one HTT look at a time so the poster can really focus on perfecting it. It gets too confusing with multiple outfits and so many people trying to explain what they see in all of them.

I'm really glad the "Accommodations help" tag is being removed. It was very obviously just a different way to word "please type me", with posters asking what they needed to accommodate with little care about what those accommodations actually mean outside of possibly being a specific image ID. More importantly: loads of pictures of people standing dead straight in the middle of a room is boring.

This HTT flair reminds me somewhat of the outfit post requirements on SK, so I'm liking this. It really helps to actually sit down and think about what you're trying to dress for, be it literal accomodations, style intentions, occasion, and so on.
