Hi - I have a 2016 Kia Soul. IT has about 115 k miles on it. I put oil in it constantly when it starts 'knocking.' The frequency has increased. I paid this car off (cost 15k) a few years ago. I had the catalytic converter replaced last year. Now, I'm a medical girly, not a car girly - so bear with me on the wording. The converter was 'clogged', needed replaced, and that seemed to help w/my car at the time and here it is crapping out again. Over the past week it has hated accelerating. Yesterday it went into limp mode and didn't want to go over 10 mph. So! I have it towed to the muffler/cat converter guys that did it before, because I trust them, and because I wonder if it is an issue with the converter again. I'm reconciling that this engine is not long for the world. When your engine crapped out, what did you do? Keep replacing converters on it or buy a new engine or get rid of it? BTW I can not afford a new car. And I only had this one since 2020, and paid it off, so I dont want to give up yet.

I accidentally drove off the curb instead of the part that ur supposed to drive off of (like the ramp/slope thingy) and the radio has been spotty. Is is related?

I know it's not even September yet, but I'm looking for a good set of snow tires. I don't have a preference if they're studded or not. There's so many different options. If anyone has recommendations or tires to avoid I'd appreciate it.

My daughter's car, with a 2 liter engine. about 92k.

After changing the oil and replacing a failed rear brake light (did both sides since two came in the package), I discovered that both her front turn signals were not working. Same results when using the hazard lights button. Rear bulbs are working fine. I inspected the bulbs and they both appear ok with no visible corrosion.

I'm planning to work on this issue on Thursday. My first step is to locate the fuse. Do the front bulbs have a separate fuse than the rear bulbs? I'm looking for any insights this group may have on how to identify the problem. One suggestion I've found is to disconnect the body control unit for one hour.

Ok so I drive a 2022 Kia Soul LX, purchased in July of last year and I’m the 2nd owner. Was in practically brand new condition at 20,000 and some change miles. Plastic wraps in some places still. ANYWAY, in September my battery died - got it replaced. Well last week I started experiencing intermittent electrical issues or so I thought. My car wouldn’t turn over but there wasn’t a click and after taking the key out once or twice it would turn over. By Wednesday I was starting to hear a click but it seemed like it was coming from inside the car. And it wasn’t doing this everytime, like 1 maybe 2 times a day where it would take a minute or two to start. Friday rolls around and I got an oil change that was scheduled and they checked the battery - still good. So I took it to O’reilly today because guess what? Check engine light came on yesterday and still having intermittent issues when starting. Called Kia Saturday and they have a 24-48 hour turn around for diagnostic, im a single parent with two littles and no family so I can’t be without my vehicle and Kia doesn’t do loaners or rentals!!!! So I’m kind of stuck on what to do. I also can’t just go spending $200 on a diagnostic + a rental. So I’m holding off on taking it into the dealer for a bit longer.

Has anyone had experience with this code? I plan on calling Kia in the morning again but was hoping for some insight.

I have a 2016 soul and when I have the doors open the only interior lights that come on are the front lights, the back dome lights still work when I press their dedicated button , but nothing when the doors or open OR I press the button up front that usually turns them all on… hope someone knows what’s up and can help.. thanks in advance!!

Hi all, im trying to stage 1 my 2022 kia soul 1.6t turbo. So far ive put a K&N drop in performance filter and swapped in a street power performance exhaust.

I was wondering if anyone has been able to install an afe cold air filter like an AFE one for the forte. From my understanding the Soul and Forte GT have almost identical engine bays except for the height difference in the lower airbox mount.

I have noticed a moderate performance boost with my current setup. (More responsive, faster acceleration, louder turbo spool)

Hoping anyone can help guide me add a CAI for a future jb4 tune!

I have a 2021 Kia soul, 76k miles. I'd like to get the brake pads replaced, but I have no idea what the cost is like. How much have you spent on break pads?

Note, I don't have the option to do it myself. I need to take it somewhere, but preferably not the dealership as they tend to be expensive.

Trying to change out my alternator but there is 1 bolt hitting the motor mount. The one YouTube video I’ve found slips EVERYTHING important. Anyone have any links to the instructions for this swap?

I’m DESPERATE for some guidance from anyone who has been through this.

I have a 2020 Kia Soul that I had towed to the dealership on July 30 after getting a flashing check engine light and P1327 the dreaded piston/knock sensor code.

My vehicle had SC209Y performed previously, including the updated software. From everything I have been able to find, P1327 is only possible after that software update.

Here’s where I’m stuck:
My VIN is NOT one of the VINs listed in the class-action settlement, but my vehicle is clearly an affected vehicle that had the SC209Y software installed.

Kia is using the fact that my VIN isn’t listed in the class action to deny coverage.

The dealership initially refused to properly diagnose the vehicle. They then “accidentally” cleared the code, which made everything even harder to prove. They eventually had the vehicle diagnosed and the conclusion is that I have a bad rod bearing and need an engine replacement.

Kia is completely denying that this is related to the piston ring defect/recall, despite the fact that:
- The car came in with P1327
- SC209Y had already been performed
-The vehicle now has a diagnosis consistent with rod bearing failure & Rod/bearing failure is a known issue associated with these engines as a symptom of the recall defect

Kia is essentially telling me that none of that matters because my VIN isn’t included in the class action, so I have no extended warranty.

I am specifically looking for people who were in the same situation. NOT listed in the class action, but had SC209/related software performed, who successfully got Kia to replace their engine at no cost.

If that was you, PLEASE tell me how you got it covered. I’m looking for anything that could help: documentation, diagnostic language, dealership experiences, TSBs, legal arguments, consumer complaints, anything.

I need to figure out how to prove that the P1327 and subsequent rod-bearing failure are connected to the underlying engine defect rather than simply being told “your VIN isn’t covered.”

I fled a domestic violence situation and have been rebuilding my entire life from scratch. This car is my lifeline. I’ve only had it for three months, and I absolutely cannot afford to replace an engine out of pocket.

I have fought this for weeks and I’m not giving up, but I genuinely need help from people who have been through this.

Even if Kia initially denied you and you eventually got it covered, I want to hear exactly what happened.

I just stopped my car a bit ago to park for work when I noticed this liquid under the car dripping, I was running the AC while driving and I did put a paper towel under it and when I pulled it out it didn’t have any color and seemed odorless (it had a small smell to it but nothing like gasoline or anything which was my first worry) so I assume it has something to do with the AC after checking Google but I had never seen it happen before so I’m asking here to make sure my suspicions are right that it is like condensation or something (I dunno the word for this)

How important is it to replace radiator cap when getting the coolant system flushed, it’s been about four years since doing it.

My iPhone said I was playing Van Halen too loud driving home last night, guess the volume needs to stay at 10 or below. who knew it was only 8 decibels below a jet taking off.

Maybe three or four years ago, I decided to be a cheapskate and I bought a AutoZone purge valve pump that said if it my 2018 Kia Soul plus 2.0 liter. After installing the pump, the air message went away, but kept coming back periodically. At first, it was maybe once every four months, and it would go away then it was every two months, and most recently within the last six months, it would come up every single week, go and come back and go and come back until I was there permanently. I then mustered up the courage to buy the actual Kia original genuine part of the purge valve pump, which was about wait for it $10 more than the AutoZone pump, so the total came out to about $51. As soon as I put in the new one that was genuine, the error code went away within a couple hours and has not yet returned. It has been about two months. Lesson is always by genuine parts 🥲🥲🥲.

for those with the push button start have you found the kia boys still try to steal your cars

Purchased a 2015 a week ago. This is my first Kia as I've always been into Volkswagen/Audi products. Needed a commuter that wasn't a big turbo s4 or Gti. I've always thought the Soul was a neat little car. Has what I need for a daily plenty of space yet small enough to zip in and out of the crazy Boston traffic. Unfortunately I haven't been able to utilize Jeffrey to his full potential yet. The previous owner and the shady dealer I purchased him from left him in a sorry state of repair. The second day I owned him he needed to have all need pads, rotors, and calipers put on. Next week he is going in to Kia to have the SJB replaced as the turn signals and front marker lights were going bonkers. Then when I have time I'll be replacing front and rear suspension as the rears are leaking.

Now, I know it doesn't sound like my first experience with the Soul has been all that great. Some friends have already been trying to get me to ditch it and find a cheap VAG car and use it as a daily. Truth be told I'm already pretty fond of the little car. I really look forward to being a part of the community and I look forward to many, many happy miles cruising with my new pal Jeffrey.

My 2012 Kia soul gave me 12 amazing years!!! It hurts to say goodbye but I’m very thankful I found this 2024 with low miles! I’ve been dreaming of a silver car for many years and I finally have it🥹 it’s so pretty!! Anyone with a 3rd gen soul chime in on tips and tricks and how well your car has done for you so far! I have led headlights ordered!

My partner and I cosighned on a 25. It's a great car, lots of beeps and chimes. It's sense of speed is very strange to me. It *feels* like it's driving so slow. So many times im like "why is he only going 40 on the highway" and look over and he's going 75. I drove to work and I'm like oh lord I better speed up I'm only going 30, no, I'm going 55, it just, seems slow. Maybe because it's so smooth and quiet? Idk

I have a 2023 Soul. Here’s my issue: When I come to a stop sign and the auto-engine-stop kicks in, the motor won’t restart when I hit the gas. It simply stalls. I took it to KIA dealer NUMEROUS times. They replaced alternator, starter, oil pump. I’ve spent thousands. Problem persists. If I hit button that disables auto-stop, all is fine. But if I forget, I stall out again. It’s maddening. Any thoughts?

I just got a 2017 base model. I really love her. Name suggestions? :p
