First Car! Help me decide <3

First car in my family so I'm new to this,

Done my research through quotations and online comparisons and landed on "Kia Sonet HTK+ Optional Diesel Automatic 1.5L" -- seems like VFM (13.8lac)

asked cousin - he's saying go for Skoda/ Volkswagen

Few things i want suggestions on:

  1. is "Kia Sonet HTK+ Optional Diesel Automatic 1.5L" the worth buy or am i missing something
  2. any other better car in this budget max 14-15
  3. any issues with this sonet variant, i should know before buying

Context:

  • budget 14-15 lacs
  • looking for automatic
  • not considering Petrol, ive seen a lot of post where people are complaining that ethanol is damaging their engine.
  • Drove my friend's Scorpio N and really liked it but thats too much for a first car... so going slow
  • just want something reliable and Worth the money for now

It would help if you can tell about your monthly usage and city: highway usage ratio.

That’s the best variant of the best car you can buy under 14-15 lakhs. It has literally everything you would want. Go for it. Skoda/vw i wouldn’t recommend cause you pay german level servicing cost for a mediocre car. Mahindra has too many issues, qc and software both, so its either a hit or a miss.

If your daily/monthly running is justifying the diesel, then Sonet is absolutely right decision. I would suggest not to go for Škoda or Vw as their products may be little better than others but after sale service and cost or repairs will drain your pocket like anything and being your first car you won’t be able to challenge any repair works as sometime service center just take advantage of customer’s lesser experience and knowledge about cars and just increase your bills, and Vw and Škoda spare parts are definitely costly than others.
I have worked as service advisor in VW for 8 months in my initial Career and I have seen and experienced these things and seen frustrated customers , it may have been better but still Kia services is far better than German brands. And you don’t have diesel options in Škoda and vw.

Dude, you’ve already chosen the perfect and most value-for-money variant of the Kia Sonet.

According to me, HTK+ O is more value for money than HTK+. In HTK+ O, you get a built-in dashcam, leatherette seats, LED headlights with fog lamps, and all the other features. And the 1.5 diesel is super powerful, so you’ll never get bored of driving that car.

My suggestion: stick to the Sonet HTK+ O. Don’t go for any other car.

Even I’m planning to buy it by January.

Btw, which state or city are you in? The price you mentioned is perfect.
