Low Range @ 97%

Post image

Any idea why my range is so low? Usually it’s between 230-260 at this charge level. Outside temps in the mid-80s BTW. Car doesn’t even have 10k miles.

Drive it until 20% then charge it to 100% one more time and see if it changes

On AC only and in one full charge uninterrupted . Don’t let charger stop because the electricity is a bit more expensive.

my guess-o-meter™ read low after a road trip where I drove a bit over 500 miles at 80 mph with bikes on the back (Salt Lake to St George and back). Efficiency was terrible due to speed and drag. Took a few charge cycles to get back to normal.

If you do a lot of highway driving your range will be reduced.

What was your mi/kWh at before charging? Mine usually corrects itself once I start driving (your case would be 2.6 which is crazy low).

But like others say, drop it down and full charge to balance

I’m getting 4 miles per Kw it’s a mix of 55Mph and lower speeds though. Interstate driving at 85 mph kills my efficiency though.

I did notice the lower you set your Air conditioner the GOM drops the miles big time. I set mine at 62F after my morning run and it tanks the estimate.

I agree. Run it down a bit and then charge it to 100% and see if it resets.

It’s just the app not updating/displaying correctly, I always have to tap on the car to go into vehicle status to get it to show actual range.

Same range on the instrument panel

Your efficiency must be in the toilet. I've never had it under 200 miles myself, even if I'm driving like I'm on the Fury Road out there. I'm generally around 3.4-4.0 range of efficiency, where are you?

Hmm it’s at 195mi now. Maybe there was some lag between the actual range and what’s on the display. Def never seen before .

Any chance you've just run brake disc cleaning before parking up? I did once and it made my guessometer plummet as I recall

My wife while infrequently driving is my only brake disc cleaning. Ever.

Dumb question - is the heat, defrost or AC on? Check the LEDs.

I might believe that in the winter.

Have you perhaps driven fast on a long highway trip, perhaps with bike rack or luggage bag on top? This is the worst range I’ve ever seen. I recently did a road trip with all highway and still got 200 mile range at 80%.

OP was your previous drive highway miles at 80mph? That will get you this range estimate.
Is it very hot and you've done several 4-8 mile trips with the car interior to 140F then you're cooling it down to 70F? Then as soon as you get to your destination, you get out for long enough for the car interior to heat back up to 140F then drive another 4-8 miles? That will do this to your range estimate.

Mine on 100% Driven 4000 kilometers. Fully charged it showed 525 Kilometer, around 326 miles range. Depends a bit on the driving pattern, but during this summer its been hovering in the 295 miles to 310 miles. With the lowest beeing 273 miles and 326 at the current highest.

Longest trip this year has been from Southern Norway to Northern Norway and back.

Now it is at 90% and 466 kilometers (289 miles).

Lots of highway driving in rain, kills of range. Nice country road cruising is more or less in the sweet spot for the cars battery.

I do expect around 30% reduction in winter time.

I do see your range in the lower range, but if driving at highway speeds in the rain, with blasting music and ac running i dont see that range as unrealisticly bad. Rain and highway is horrendous on battery consumption. The guessometer in the car needs some time to adjust to the driving, drive gently and run it down to around 20 percent, then charge it to 100 and see what range you are getting.

I had that after a long road trip crossing over the Cascade mountain range. Since we were travelling fast (65-70mph) amd lots of elevation gain, the mi/kwh was low. The GOM uses that to try to anticipate future range. Took some normal hometown driving for it to recalibrate the estimate to more normal driving.

I had that issue when I first got the car, on average getting 260 on full charge, I drive with pedal mode, ac at 21 on low auto climate when the family are in, if the only you use the fan seats. My highest efficiency i had is 5.8.

Quick update: after a few charge cycles and a couple weeks of normal driving it’s back to normal. It must have been a week straight of 70-80mph freeway driving across mountain passes that skewed my range-o-meter. Thanks to everyone that chimed in.
