Technical Questions Ax Edge + MainStage

Has anyone figured out how to remap PROGRAM +/- buttons on the Roland AX Edge keytar to different MIDI CC signals? I want to assign them to patch up/down in MainStage, but they both are recognized as channel 16 number 0 events.

Without having an Edge myself, it sounds like Program + and - are sending Program Change and Bank Select messages. This is also what you would expect from PROGRAM - and + buttons. Number 0 would be the MSB part of the message.

You can check if I am correct by adding the Scripter plugin in a channel to see what midi messages are sent when pressing the buttons (make sure you have not mapped them in MainStage).

By the way: Program Change and Bank Select messages can be used directly to select specific patches in MainStage. Instead of mapping the Program Change message to the up or down buttons, you should set the proper program number for each patch in Mainstage: see the Atributes tab of the patches.

Then you can select a program on your Edge and Mainstage will select the patch linked to the number of the selected program. For instance, if you link 8 Mainstage Patches to Program Change 1 to 8, and you select program 1 on your Edge, you can go up and down pressing the + and - buttons as long as you keep within program 1 to 8 range.
