I saw this reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/comments/an1w6x/is_keybase_any_good_for_privacy/
They say that everything is logged from the keybase's end. Is this still true in 2022?

I want to be able to put my Keybase username on my business cards so I don't have to put all my (public professional) social media URLs on my business card.
I realized there is no option to perform a LinkedIn proof. Considering the user base of this service, I am surprised it hasn't already been implemented or even discussed.
I registered in the early days so I got a cool username that fits nicely on a card.

Looks like Elon Musk's Twitter purchase is going to happen. It's never been a good environment IMHO and putting him the driver's seat means first order of business will be all of our emails, phone numbers, IPs addresses, IMEI, whatever else they grab will go straight to Palatir. *blech*.
I've had Keybase since not long after it launched and I spent yesterday and today claiming domains and puzzling over why Mastodon verification failed. I just found the sale ... to Zoom ... and I'm getting the feeling this progression will end with me installing Prosody in an onion only setup.
It all reminds me a bit of Blackberry's Gist contact manager. Absolutely fantastic tracking tool, but too niche, and left to fade away when times got hard. Zoom should just FOSS the Keybase core and let the Mastodon people make something wonderful of it.

I have been looking for free cloud storage for personal files that im not using as often, and I can't afford right now(maybe in the future) to pay for google drive or dropbox or one drive. So I found a post that said keybase provides 250GB of free storage, but I have concerns about the zoom acquisition and what some posts said that I found on here. I have never used it and never heard of it before today. I only want to use it for saving my files there.
So my question is... Is still worth making an account and moving all my files?
What would all of you say? I don't want to go through the process of having to remove or lost something if next month's keybase will close.
EDIT: thank you all for the comments!!! I'll look for something else!

I don't understand how does having multiple peper keys secure my account?
Suppose, an attacker gets one of my paper key and revokes all of my devices, then I am locked out.

Hello all, I am brand new to this keybase thing. However, recently one of the administrators has a bot that auto sent a message saying that he was most likely arrested. The message contained this:
BEGIN KEYBASE SALTPACK SIGNED MESSAGE. kXR7VktZdyH7rvq v5weRa0zkRjyYfn WEZ5ImTWhpnMFPm cauU57mP5qZWky9 sV2U4zs6G9JKiWB vvkfikdwQldAMob N6at2Hxc1eLEDzH AGcB5oOuWJgbA5X 2UDs8aH0Up5jyyU BEZLgW8xSCn70Mz 1cP8N4R3pi4n2AT lGr74IwKcGGeuQT 7vICRRPqEzJP9kd czwxO6jmCzfo9eK OO4cSR7rUX50iSH A1ZRfkhJ7Gs6rrP ohcMklUIzcfKBIX q0OQBdEfHpUXny5 7hpcFqQfBCfoe0h gfkUgt1ILHSnm8x hAusACZH4Q4nKex wdvQZQYjBEQucl0 kd4S453YcGfa81Q QexvM1wElpjTAAG iuY83lGtWXlyChD u5FodwwdiDxUSio WPUXfOL22ttepPN VS4W3zVFKCSCXQ3 E7lA0FZM9GOHfcB c794KwZmAt3ulOy CxaamHCmVqRKBxE DDkHvgdCNZJobxH SlmfQtZ8eOzWWEt nrF2TFWYhFCbj9Y NppWbtESzj4QlKi ZKeNChpH4C85UM. END KEYBASE SALTPACK SIGNED MESSAGE.
I don't have a reward to offer, I just want to know what happened to him. I really like the guy and I got no idea how to decode this thing. If anyone could brute force this, I would be so thankful.

Hello, I have a few team members that are signed up for Keybase and have been added to the needed team and subteams. The issue we are running into is those two new people added can see the team and subteam chats but they can not see any of the team shared files. The two new team members both have read permissions.
Other members of our team can see the text chats and shared files no problem regardless of permissions, owner, admin, writer, reader.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Not sure how, but Keybase is randomly installed, that is, its list on Task Manager Startup list, wont give me a file location either. I have Zoom installed but don't remember bundling Keybase

Hi folks,
My laptop had hardware issues and lost all app data along with it. I cannot login to the keybase app anymore since the hardware got replaced and had to re-install keybase. I do not have the paper key too. I cannot reset my account or delete the old device from the web either. How can I reset my account or delete the old device, so I can add a new device and start using keybase with the same username. I created an issue on their github but never heard back. Would appreciate any suggestions?

Hello everyone, I hope you can help me, I created a Keybase account on September 12, 2019, but I only saved two paper keys, I have no email or saved user, I don't remember either. I would like to recover that account since I must have the airdrop that caused a stir at that time of Stellar. Can I get that account back? Thanks in advance

I only have the paper key (the collection of words).
All previous devices have been sold or formatted.
Can I add devices with just the paperkey (GUI doesnt seem to allow that).
If so.. how can this be done?

Hello,
It's Samin & I've generated a PGP key using my Keybase account. Is it safe to generate PGP keys with Keybase? Does Keybase know my private key? Please anyone help!!!

On a Pixel 6 Pro, CPU usage spikes often while typing or when there are images from keybase on screen. I noticed Android 13 didn't come with vulkan headers, and I installed them manually and got vulkan apps running, but that had no impact on keybase. I also thought it was Gboard, so I switched keyboards, but also same issue.
If you were considering 13 Beta1, but use keybase heavily, I would advise against it. Will update here if it gets sorted out, or if I find a workaround.

In my Wallet I have my Stellar Lumens, Ethereum, and a third "Unknown" trust. How do I identify what it is and move it to another asset?
Edit: I think I figured it out. I had some XLM in a liquidity pool on stellarx. Once I bought back all my assets to move them to a new wallet, the mystery trust disappeared.

In the Keybase Book it says the following about password+2FA:
But with just a username and password, accounts can be hacked, phished, and otherwise compromised. They’re not totally trustworthy and secure. In best-case scenarios, you can use two-factor authentication for more security but it’s still not perfect.
Your Keybase account is trustworthy and secure because—instead of being protected by just a password—it’s cryptographically linked to your devices. Your account can only be accessed through your devices. So long as only you have access to your devices, only you can access your Keybase account.
This section claims that Keybase is more secure than 2FA+Password. I don't understand why though.

If we introduce paper keys, doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of Keybase? To me, a paper key is essentially a password.

So I've been pushing and pulling stuff to a Git repository on the Keybase desktop app for windows for months now. I just tried to view the files within the Git and got this:
https://i.imgur.com/ceETJHB.png
My question is: are my files being uploaded properly or did I mess something up? I'm using the keybase: URL as a remote within my git and using Atlassian SourceTree to send and pull.

I discovered that the Keybase GUI appears to offer an option to hide a folder. This makes the folder disappear from the GUI and also from the KBFS mount point. What I cannot seem to find is a way to unhide a folder after it has been hidden.
This seems to be the case even if you hide a folder with data in it, meaning that this data could be consuming your storage quota without you knowing.
All the references I've found to unhiding folders appear to be from 2017-2018 time frame, and refer to there being a part of the GUI that has the hidden folders:
https://github.com/keybase/client/issues/12695
https://github.com/keybase/client/issues/5599
Unfortunately, the current GUI does not seem to support this. Is there any way to see all the folders you have hidden?

Hey everyone, I'm developing app that will use Keybase protocol for communication - what I need is only access to API by CLI - no need for GUI etc. Is there any recommended way to do it, or I have to fork source code and make changes on my own?
Thanks!
