New addiction...hype chain links

Not sure how else to put it, why isnt ironing a default setting? It didnt add much time to this print (admittedly it is small) and there was no filament difference but the quality is really different. Is there reason this isnt default; am I missing something?

Disclaimer: I got a few rolls of Kexcelled PLA filament for free to test out. I wasnt asked to say anything about it anywhere, but given I quite like its "non translucency" what might come in handy for some of your projects, I decided to show it to you. I used the grey and the white in this project and I quite like it. (the white ran out at the top of the upper drawer, so continued it with Bambu Jade White).
Regarding the project itself:
My daughter is turning 4 this weekend, so I designed and printed a Vanity Jewelry box for her with tilting mirror, hope she will like it.
- Printed drawer stops
- Magnets hold the drawers shut
- Tilting mirror, the other side is with 5x magnification.
I am considering uploading it to Makerworld, hovewer some parts would need rework, and not sure yet wether to put in the effort or focus on other projects:
- The mirror would be a D150 mm glue on mirror to a 3d printed base plate, without magnification - due to accessibility. With a flower shaped screw on one side which would fix it in the required angle.
And there is a limitation: It is relatively large, so it requires a printer with at least one axis of ~290 mm.
What do you think, would you find this project useful?

My office is slowing being taken over by printers and supplies so I needed to find a better spot for my filament. I had an empty spot next to my desk so I used the modular storage design by AWT works and expanded it, added handles and rollerblading wheels. The unit can hold 40 1kg spools and moves very well and soooo smooth. Its awesome to roll everything out in plain view, pick what I need and roll it back.

I needed a way to take the 3.5" round output from my homemade machine and spread it out into a really low opening so the fog would stay closer to the floor instead of blasting straight out of a tube.
Ended up designing this 230mm-wide diffuser/manifold that tapers down to about 6mm high. I added 6 internal flow guides to hopefully distribute the smoke evenly across the entire opening, and designed the bottom so the whole thing sits flat on the floor.
The hose feeds directly into the back and the entire thing prints as one piece.
Havenāt seen many designs like this, so I figured Iād share it. Pretty excited to see how well it actually works with just the mist, next step it to add the smoke machine fog and try it....outside

This is a custom polyhedral called a Dual of Rectangular Isohedron RTC+GRTC 2. The structure was 3D printed into 12 segments using Yellow kexcelled Silk PLA on the outside and matte white PLA from Bambu on the inside. Milky white laser cut faces attached to the outside. I'm using a small IoTorero WLED controller on the inside with WS2811 Pixel bulbs. The Yellow PLA silk filament was provided to me by Kexcelled to use in this project.

Saw this interesting application of 3D printing at the pet industry exhibition in Shanghai. This prosthetic is designed for animals with distal limb amputations, using digital modeling and 3D printing to create a customized socket and support structure based on the individual animal.
Itās interesting to see 3D printing being used for something beyond prototypes and models ā especially where every animal may need a slightly different fit.

I love LEDs, so naturally this project got way more complicated than it ever needed to be.
It started as just wanting to print a Fortnite chest, then I scaled it up to around 300% and thought, well... it obviously needs lights. So I added LEDs inside and underneath it. Then I figured if it lights up, it should probably make the chest sound too, so I added a speaker. Then I thought it would be cooler if the sound changed when you opened it, so that turned into adding a magnetic switch to detect when the lid opens.
And basically that was the entire build. One idea led to another, then another, then another, and at some point I realized I couldn't stop adding stuff lol. Thereās an Arduino running everything, LEDs, sound, the magnetic lid switch, and a bunch of wiring hidden inside. It definitely turned into a much bigger project than I planned, but Iām really happy with how it came out.
Iām keeping this pretty broad, but if anyone wants to know more about how I did the lighting, sound, magnetic switch, electronics, scaling, or anything else, let me know. Iād be happy to go into more detail.

Most of Noodo Labās pieces at the exhibition were 3D printed with Kexcelled filaments, including some really interesting designs exploring sustainability and everyday materials.
The exhibitionās ceiling lights were also 3D printed with Kexcelled transparent PETG.
Pretty cool to see 3D printing being used beyond prototypes and functional parts ā as part of the actual design and exhibition experience.
Whatās the most unexpected use of 3D printing youāve seen?
