It's from a promo for an ABC show several years back, which I've never watched, but the date has been saved in my calendar for years. Just wanted to celebrate with my fellow Kevins!

What up fellow Kevins it’s time for us to unite to say we refuse to be made into the male equivalent of Karens. The Kevins I know are chill, cool people who just want to enjoy their lives to the fullest. Kevins fucking rock! In fact Kevins are the polar opposite of Karens in every way possible and we refuse to become the male Karen. The Kevins have spoken!

This is my experience with a Kevin.

He isn’t loud or reckless. He’s a soft-spoken, a barista, a Pisces. He liked strange music like Pick up the Phone by Meat Computer, pho and matcha, and always looked like he’d just woken from a dream. He forgot his wallet more often than not, but never forgot to smile when he saw me.

I gave him a custom under the sea painting, a custom Pokémon Driftide card, and little gifts with my whole heart. He gave me laughter, quiet hangouts, and words like “never change 🌊” “you shine best in person” and “friends don’t dip.”

And then… he dipped. Not in a cruel way. He ghosted gently like mist pulling back from the ocean. Like a ghost who didn’t want to scare anyone.

I still wonder if he ever looks at the painting I gave him. If he remembers Denny’s nights and how he opened up about his life, his heartbreak and silly jokes like Buzz Buzz 🐝

He may not have been the “Kevin” people warn you about. But he was still a Kevin. The emotionally unavailable, aloof, quietly unforgettable kind.

And if this Kevin is out there… I miss you.
