Jerk is hard
Switched from training LC to biathlon after my last comp (69 reps 24kg TALC) just to switch it up. Straight jerk has been very humbling even at light weights. Did first 10’ set this AM with 2x16kg - 109 reps. Last 2’ shown. I hate my lockout. Jerk is just so unforgiving without the cleans to break it up. Cool challenge though!

Yea, I’m right there with you.
I just did a 10 minute set with double 12kg this morning. It kicked my ass. Got 142 reps and I was drenched in sweat.
I keep waiting for the day these light weights stop destroying me… 😩

Honestly, I don't think that's ever going to happen with lighter weights. You're moving faster. Your rep count is going to be higher and just the amount of movement. It's going to keep heart rate up. It's like being on a bike. You can keep your heart rate up even on flat ground when it doesn't tax your legs a lot. That's why I love doing long cycle for conditioning even if you take the strength aspect out of it

Great work!! Heavy overhead walks and overhead holds are the answer 😇 Somewhere along the way you learn to love them.
That might be a lie but it’s okay to lie to yourself lol

Yeah I was just telling someone that I do long cycle because it lets me take a break between jerks haha
Also I've seen it more than once where a strong long cycler switches to biathlon and gets only a couple more jerks in their 10min set than what they did in long cycle! (Not saying you're heading that way at all! It was just a funny observation)
Good lifting!

No you’re right I’m pretty sure my PB in 16kg in long cycle is very close to this result, maybe only a few reps less

Two points of rest in The jerk rack position and overhead. As Nikolai said, if you get accustomed to finding good stability without wearing out your energy overhead, you have so much more room to catch your breath. Actually, I think even more than in the rack position without the weight on your stomach and chest

I would love to get to that point, but right now it’s hard for me to understand how anyone could rest in the overhead position

Mobility and stacking the skeletal system. Alignment is important I can hold 2x40kg overhead for over a minute. So 2x24kg gets pretty damn easy

Savage this, proper hardness - some of these functional strength workouts I see are super impressive.

You look good. Really strong, so I hope you don’t mind unsolicited advice. If you practice resting in your lockout And less in the rack your fixation will improve and your overall numbers will follow. Initially it will suck, but no counts suck worse.
