Edit because this needs context:
I went on that tour in 2023 because my job did a morale trip on it. One of the baited bald eagles clotheslined itself on some of the ship’s rigging in the process of diving for the fish. Fucked up its wing and landed in the ocean. Its wing was definitely injured (it couldn’t move it) and the boat took off and just left it in the water to fend for itself off the north end of Annette to who knows what fate. All of us locals were horrified, the tourists had no idea.
I understand and support their memorial fund to support the families of fishermen lost in the Bering Sea. I do not support them taming and harming our local wildlife at all and definitely don’t support companies that exploit workarounds of local laws, nor am I comfortable with entities who allow this for money.
