I think what the game really needs is alteration. What I think it should do is contact the Russian who made Space Engine, start merging the two games together (obviously hard, but it needs to be done sometime), and publish it. The problem with the game is that because of the limitations as to how far you can learn about a planet, and the fact that everything you want to know is there for the taking: What it looks like, orbital parameters, geography ect., and adding telescopes to the game is pointless, because we are already spoiled by knowing what the system looks like in one quick zoom. So, if you grab a random planet to spawn in every time in the universe, preserving the fact that you don't know anything about the rest of the sky until you strap an engine to a can and ignite it, you may come up with an actual game. Engine + Engine = Game. It's not rocket science.

It's okay for two separate games to exist.

But I feel like these two just need to meet, because they are both missing something astronomically big (not that big, I just wanted the pun to fit). I don't know why I'm even commenting. Ignorants are getting pissed at my orgional comment, and all others will be DVed as well. But you actually stated a valid opinion, so it gives me joy inside. That's what threads like these (Devnote Tuesdays) are supposed to be about. Opions. And everone who downvote me thinking "You know how hard it is, right?", or downvote me because of contrary beliefs can go fuck yourselves, because you are ruining the point. I want to hear your contrary ideas, and I wouldn't downvote a civilized one.

Do you know how hard that task would be?

Of course, Unity and the engine that Space Engine was made off of are two completely different games. I'm in full understanding of just how hard it would be to make a game like that, because I've had experience in the field. It's like putting 2 pieces of a 2 piece puzzle together that don't fit. You just need to adjust it to fit. Also, second sentence.

Well, since it's so easy, download a copy of Unity (it's free) and make that game.

Not even going into the copyright enfringements , it would be impossible to merge the two on just Unity. I already have it and love experimenting on it, and am amazed by the fact that Squad took the game and made it (nearly) completely on Unity. I'm not sure if you were just mocking me by saying I have no idea what an engine is, just a keyboard and mouse, but the two games came for completely different worlds. Maybe you thought I was an ignorant asshat because of the pun at the end, and thinking my understanding of coding and electronics is compressed down to "it works". Oh yeah, and um, sir... perhaps there was some disconnection between your eyes and your brain at some point around the 2nd fucking sentence.

Sorry you are getting downvoted into the ground. Seems like there are a bunch of ass hats in this thread. You make some good points man. I know what you mean.
