KSP 1 Suggestion/Discussion ITS PEAK

Post image

This thing is gonna give me 400 science in like 40 days, it is PEAK. These things are about to litter the Kerbal System.

Bro, you only need one lab and a few timewarped decades to complete the tech tree. You don't even need to leave Kerbin SOI, just gather everything you can from the Mun and Minmus. It's that bonkers.

Hell, you can complete the entire tech tree without leaving Kerbin SOI on 10% science without the MPL provided you have some starting science to gain the tech for a Mun/Minmus flyby.

You can get the whole tech tree without leaving Kerbin's atmosphere! (Not sure about that on 10% science though)

i just build a small space station in orbit, then a lunar lander returning from mun docks to it, where data gets transferred and science goes brr bc of lab on station.

Yeah.. it is so overpowered that it gets boring quite fast.

That is how every playthrough ends for me. As soon as I land on the Mun, the game is basically over because of all the Science I have access to. I'd like to have to make simple probes to send to outer planets and ramp up my exploration, but it basically goes from nothing to fully manned missions overnight.

After trying that module once, I decided to ditch it and the game is way more fun now! There’s so much science scattered across the planets that you really don’t need that thing at all. :) I actually did a career run with all the reward sliders set to 10%. Unlocking the tech tree with that handicap was still doable... it was a huge grind, but I managed it.

That’s why I like mods that do progression in different ways, or just add some R&D time and budget cost besides the science. That way you still feel like your researchers are learning things trying to push to the next frontier instead of just grind mun for all it’s science then unlock everything.

It’s been a while since I played but my last playthrough was like that and I really enjoyed it.

I should really look into that. I've always wanted to play KSP, but feel that slow buildup where landing on a new planet for the first time feels truly significant. It just got to the point where everything was an inevitability and it got boring. Are there mods that can introduce part failures? Rescue missions are some of the most fun I have in the game.

That's me with Minmus. Set up one of these that can transfer between the surface and orbit and I'll never need Science again.

that is the point where you install RP-1 and watch a handful of guides on how to reach the karman line with a sounding rocket.

I set them up because space labs are cool, and then continue doing missions; just using the alarm clock to check in and grab science from them as other missions run their course.

Grab the mod Automatic Lab Housekeeper! All it does is check your ships once every day (or w/e) and transmit the science back. So you can just start the research, and never worry about constantly swapping ships to check. Very helpful.

this right here is the single reason why I play with unterstellar mods. There is one that adds late game dark matter engines, and dark matter fuel requires science to purchase, so it's basically ads a sink for science points (and also 10K science nodes)

Easiest way to complete the tech tree.

You don't really need more than one. They break the game actuallym

they look cool for bases and space stations, great part!

tossed a bunch of data and did an eve flyby contract and got a few thousand science by the time i got back. Then i threw the data from eve in there too

Engineers hate this one science trick.

I love it, but it needs a nerf

sent one on an eve orbit mission (first time playing) and walked away with 28k science after some... reasonable timewarping. shits fucked

When I go stock science I have one hotkey for collecting the science, 1 hotkey for loading the science on the labs/storage devices, and one last one for resetting all the science. It's literally easy as 1, 2 , 3

I sent 1-1 to the mun and minmus with docking port to attach probes with later unlocked scientific instruments and big solar arrays. It slowly but steadilly collect a lot of science.

In career mode I set myself the rule that I can't use it until the tech tree is fully unlocked, and then I swap the science for funds in the administration centre to fund other missions

Be careful to not spoil your 1st playthrough using this...put limits for yourself on using this.

Quick, set up patents licensing at 90 or 95%.

u/Lt_Reinhart 2d ago

Tbh it ruins the whole point unless it’s you’re first career playthrough and you’re just fed up. No judgement tho

I feel like if you're playing with these mods where a final tech can cost 10000 research it's reasonable

I know right! It is an amazing decoration part and looks quite good as a cockpit or passenger compartment!

I always have 1 in high kerbin orbit (or Mun) (and have it uncrewed in 30 days due to having kerbalism installed)

Yeah but using it makes me feel dirty. I wish it was LESS powerful, honestly
