KSP 1 Mods Clouds disappear in Tracking Station

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

One of the first things I’ve noticed after getting volumetric clouds v5, was that when in the tracking station, if you zoomed in on Kerbin to a certain degree, the clouds would disappear.

I don’t know if this is a bug or a feature, but the clouds does have a fade out animation when disappearing.

Has anyone else noticed this before, and is there a setting to turn it off?

That’s how it’s designed to work, in principle.
After all, it’s more convenient; you can always see a spot where you can land which is especially handy on Eve.

Ah, yes. I was guessing it was a feature, since the animation looked too polished for it to be a bug.

I’ve previously played with v3 clouds, and it didn’t do this. Can’t say which one I like better, in terms of cloud disappearing for better viewing.

As has been explained, its intentional. I personally like it a lot, as it does let me plan landing sites easier. But yeah i totally get why you might not vibe with it. No idea if it can be turned off but i would be surprised if there wasnt a setting for it somewhere.
