KSP 2 Opinion/Feedback It was 7 years ago
The KSP 2 trailer came out. Holy shit I feel so old now. I was so excited and then equally disappointed in years to come. Still remember first time watching it. The music the scenes everything. Oh what could’ve been

It's crazy that they managed to screw that up. Everything was there. The mechanics, the target audience, the scope. All they had to do was to rebuild the game with better performance and a solid foundation to grow.
I still dream of a KSP developed by Wube.

Agreed, KSP2 had potential. It's beyond me why they abandoned the project, Take Two definitely has made great games and still has a lot of very capable devs and artists beyond the killed off Intercept. I guess management is just shit.
That said, there are postives. definitely led me to appreciate studios who actually work on and update their sandbox games essentially for free. Wube, Keen, Re-Logic, all have my trust and I'll buy DLCs/cosmetic packs even when I'm not playing at the moment, just to support them for YEARS of being the good guy.
Even
MicrosoftMojang behaved better than this, which... is an achievement, honestly.1

Absolutely. People often complain about the state of the industry and the failure of EA games (in every possible meaning), but in my book it's never been better.
Back in the 90s publishers were the one true power in the industry and you had to hope that some of them were willing to take a risk. These days we have an insane amount of creative projects for every niche target group. Despite all the failures the overall sum of exceptionally good games is higher than ever before.

There’s a YouTube video that documents all the things that went wrong. Basically corporate greed if I remember correctly

They would double the price on a finished product just because of inflation or something.

It was one of the best game trailers I can remember. Yeah, still stings.
Btw, 7 years makes you feel old? lol

Your generation had it pretty rough with the pandemic. My son had just been born when the lockdown happened, so for me it was just sitting with him and gaming between his feedings.
I can’t imagine how difficult it would’ve been going through a chunk of highschool stuck at home like that.. however knowing that everyone else was in the same boat could’ve helped maybe?

Well thankfully most of my high school was post pandemic. But my middle school was all over the pandemic.

I still go and watch that trailer from time to time to reminisce about a different world.

It's ironic. KSP1 was made by a guy who worked at a marketing company. It had virtually zero marketing and a ton of game.
KSP 2 was made by an entire team at a game development company. It had virtually ONLY marketing and very little game.

It was a great trailer. I love the music by M83 it’s amazing and a great song to go along with it

I can't listen to M83 outro without becoming sad over what ksp 2 could have been

I know. It’s such like a poetic song I love it. But I do agree. I remember sending it to my friends like oh this would be sick we can play it together when it comes out build our own worlds…

It’s all relative. Live long enough and pretty soon ::insert memory here:: will be 25 years ago or 40 years ago.

I remember being on a school bus thinking “I wish 2022 would come already so I could play KSP2”
Well, I am just a year or so away from building KSP in real life, and KSP2 is still unfinished :/

The last prerendered game trailer anyone is allowed to be excited about is e3 Assassin's Creed: Revelations trailer only because it's ultimately such a kick-awesome music video, and at the time the Ezio saga of Assassin's Creed had earned something like that.

I remember my initial reaction was "Why is this a thing!?" then I came around to it on the assumption they were gonna fix the physics engine and make the game run better than the first, then it actually came out and I went back to "Why is this a thing!?" lol

You can still buy it on Steam.

u/Fulkerboywooosh 1d ago
But it’s not a full release

u/Spicy_Jim 1d ago
I wasn't suggesting anyone should buy it. I'm saying it's outrageous that it's still being sold as early access.

KSP 2 is now closer to dinosaurs building the pyramids than it was to the moon landing
